Going to Kennedy or Richardson events? How? |
|
Edited on Fri Apr-25-08 04:35 PM by adoraz
First off, I am not positive if this belongs here, so I'm sorry if its in the wrong section.
I was just wondering, I usually see a lot of things about people like Ted Kennedy or Bill Richardson campaigning for Obama, but I never hear about these events prior. Is there any place where people can get all this information?
On Barack Obama's site, only events by he and his wife are listed.
I have been searching online for this information, but I can't find it anywhere. I searched on Kennedy's website, but found nothing.
Is there any way to find out about these events in advance? Are they exclusive events?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. Don't know about Richardson |
|
but I don't think Teddy is stumping. I like Teddy but if I was Obama, he is the last person I would want on the stump for me. Teddy's past will never go away.

2. yeah I'm not sure either if Ted is |
|
I know he was before, but I'm not sure about anymore. I think it was mainly in Latino areas and Massachusetts.
As for others like Bill Richardson though, I am always hearing about people like him stumping but I can't find any place to find these events. I would love to see Bill Richardson.
Barack Obama events are always extremely, extremely crowded. They are fun to go to, but unless you have really great seats it isn't the same.

4. I saw Ted on CSPAN in PA- he was at a campaign headquarters |
|
meeting with volunteers before they started calling or canvassing. He was great, but it looks like he finds it hard to walk. But when he started talking he was terrific.

5. I think Teddy was stumping for him in PA last week. And he's done a few fundraisers recently. |
|
Don't know if he has anything else booked.

Very often, surrogate campaigning utilizes a built-in audience. This saves an overworked campaign staff from being distracted with multiple crowd-building efforts.
In the past, I scheduled campaign events for Jeanne Simon, Adlai Stevenson III, Nikki Tsongas, and Thalia Tsongas Schlessinger, among others. Usually, we would do something like a college or high school speech, a series of press interviews/talk radio shows, visit a senior center, hit a union hall, or hold a pep rally with canvassers.
Last winter, here in NH, Deval Patrick did the canvass pep rally bit; Samantha Power held a panel discussion on foreign policy; Tom Daschle was supposed to cut the ribbon at the Manchester HQ but his flight was delayed. For Hillary's campaign, Wes Clark hit the veteran's clubs, and Kucinich toured libraries and health food stores with Viggo Mortensen.
