They ignore me in the lounge, so let me phrase this as a campaign question:
Okay, Barack and Hillary are having a cook-off: Both have a pound of shrimp, some rice and/or pasta in the pantry, and a pretty good stock of herbs, spices and sauce-base items.

Barack can't appear too "out there" with his recipe choice or he'll get painted as a liberal, or an arugula-eater or something awful like that. What should he make?

Hillary needs to make a bold, aggressive culinary move if she wants to stay in the spotlight and keep her well-earned momentum. What's her recipe?

2. If they have the goods, they should both go with shrimp jambalaya
After all, they're so close politically that it's unsurprising they'd come up with the same recipe.

3. But Obama's Jumbalaya won't provide shrimp to 15% of the diners!
that's what I heard from the Clinton camp, at least.

4. Clinton win the race by deep frying rice with shrimp, frozen peas and
friend egg. Salt and pepper. That is it. That is all.

11. I was just pulling your leg.
I hate shrimp. Never understood the appeal. I mean you have to pull out their intestines before you eat them. What's with that?

21. But with shrimp, you have to do it yourself.

I don't want to even think about pulling the intestines out of a cow or pig.

My husband works at a chicken processing plant on the clean up crew. Not a pretty job, and that is all I will say about it.

Would be whoever deep-sixed the pasta and rice, contrived a decent bread-crumb batter, and deep fried the shrimp to serve smoking hot with tabasco and lemon on the side....

22. Hillary would check her finances
and call out and order the food, then call a press conference. Tell how she prepared this meal under intense sniperfire, and then choke up, with tears welling up in her big blue eyes, recount how she and her Mamma, back in Nor'carolina, used to putz around the kitchen, and it was a good thing...bonding moment.

23. Obama goes for scampi.
Yes, it's a slightly effete choice, but it's universally popular. People who think it's effete will eat it and like it, and it will show the actual elite that he's not too out there.

Hillary goes for gumbo. Really spicy gumbo. Not universally popular, but it will cement her support among people who will LOVE her for it. Sure, it might alienate some people, but for every person it alienates it might cause another person to look at her afresh.
