I remember after the 2000 election debacle when Hillary promised election reform... |
|
Edited on Sat Apr-26-08 12:24 AM by Infinite Hope
...before 2004. She has not delivered or put forth a serious effort to do so as we sit here short of 2 presidential terms later.
Edit: To be clear, I'm not suggesting any conspiracy. I'm suggesting a failure to deliver serious reform when promised.

2. God, yes. She was the only Senator in the Senate and it is |
|
all her fault. What about John Kerry, who let us down horribly by not fighting and bringing attention to the fiasco that was 2004?

5. I never said it's all her fault we don't have reform. I said she didn't do what she said she would. |

And Carville's sabotage of Ohio Dem voters on election night sealed that door shut.
That election was stolen everyday for the FOUR YEARS the RNC gained control of the election process at every lebel where the votes were allowed, cast and counted. And Terry McAuliffe's DNC sat on their hands and LET THEM DO IT.
You all got away with blaming first Gore and then Kerry as the DNC Clinton loyalists were the ones who let the RNC have their way long BEFORE the election days of 2000 and 2004.

http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=107_cong_public_laws&docid=f:publ252.107The Help America Vote Act was signed in 2002. Chris Dodd wrote the Senate version and it was virtually unchanged in Conference.

9. The Help America Vote Act is a terrible piece of legislation |
|
that made our elections less safe, not more safe. It imposes evoting as well as digital voter reg databases, for one thing. It was signed but iirc, Clinton voted against it. This is her floor speech: http://clinton.senate.gov/~clinton/speeches/021016.html

Then, what was the vote that I mistook for her final vote?
Between now and November, we're going to lose thousands of Democratic registrations to "glitches" in the digital databases. Demcrats are going to go to the polls and be turned away because they won't be "in the system". And, although many states are trying to backtrack from the evoting mandates of this bill, that means there's a lot of turmoil in election systems that just makes them easier to game.
In any case, politicians won't be instrumental in fixing our voting practices. We have to do that. Clinton's record isn't remarkable but just as good as most people's on this issue. None of them really shine, except lately, Rush Holt. Heck, Obama only lately figured out that Gore won. lol
