In Dreams from My Father Obama mentions that this book was his grandfather's favorite and constantly referred to it. I'm sure some of those principles rubbed off from his gramps and onto Barack.

Fundamental Techniques in Handling People

1. Don't criticize, condemn or complain
2. Give honest and sincere appreciation
3. Arouse in the other person an eager want

6 ways to make people like you

1. Become genuinely interested in other people
2. Smile
3. Remember a person's name is the sweetest word to that person
4. Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves.
5. Talk in terms of the other person's interests.
6. Make the other person feel important and do it sincerely

Thats just some of the basic principles in dealing with people. There's a lot more principles that I haven't listed but one of the principle about leading people is to:

Begin with praise and honest appreciation (before a smackdown).

Notice whenever Obama is critical of his opponent he always begins with a compliment first. " John McCain is genuine war hero and I admire him for his services to this country.... but we don't need 4 more years of failed Bush economics which John McCain subscribes to! "

If you look at all of Obama's past videos he is always smiling, addressing people by their first name, seeing things from the other person's perspective and seems sincere in his responses.

When Obama is asked if Hillary should step out of the race Obama said Hillary has every right to stay and contest the remaining states. He was abiding by principle number 5 on being a leader " Let the other person save face "

There you go, Obama's Playbook.

5. Here's the book that Hillary should read......

A woman told me recently, "America is headed toward civil war." This was not some wild-eyed, street-corner prophet, but a thoughtful, intelligent, articulate woman, active in the affairs of her community--the sort of person who used to be called, without a trace of irony, "a fine, upstanding citizen." But when she looks around, she said, all she sees is anger. Anger and violence, actual or imminent. There are white supremacists and anti-government militias forming in the hills, dispossessed minorities boiling over in the cities. Voters are frustrated that their votes don't seem to count for anything. Politicians, remote and unresponsive, are off pursuing their own agendas in Washington. And, of course, there are the media, always the media, sensationalizing and trivializing without addressing important issues. "Something," she announced ominously, "has got to give"

His title is derived from a biblically inspired statement by Abraham Lincoln: "A house divided against itself cannot stand."

6. IT's a fine book. Too bad Bush never read it.
You'd think Laura would have put him onto it by now.

8. Good manner can influence people. Who would of known.
Obama is very charming and many like him. So this is paramount-Good manners. My favorite is no. three of the second list. Remember a person's name is the sweetest word to that person. Well if he wins let's get some of this advice spread around liberally. Cause we are going to need it.
