Why Did They Release Excerpts from Wright interview before it aired? |
|
I hate the way they do things now. Why on earth do they release excerpts from interviews like the Wright one before it actually airs?
The right wing media gets the jump on reporting the interview and they continue to do the same damn thing they did in the first place: take snipets and twist the meaning of the statements. For at least two days before the interview actually aired, the right wing media is throwing their spin before people get to see it.
By broadcasting the "highlights" before the interview actually airs, most people don't bother to watch the damn interview. They think they know what the interview was all about because they are told what Wright said by the bullshit media.
I'm sick of this kind of stuff.

1. To get people to watch it |
|
Because they think it will be somewhat anti-Obama. And then they watch it and get an education.

that assumes ignorance.
I did watch it and found it interesting for a number of reasons. I continue to think Obama has a "pastor problem" but not because Wright is any kind of scary, unAmerican, extremist.
I am glad Moyers did the interview. Adds some balance to the nonsense that has been thrown about. Less KO and more Moyers and we would be in better shape.

It's time we let guests talk instead of the interviewer using the guest to twist a point.

13. Education assumes ignorance? |
|
No, it assumes that people learn something, not that people enter education without knowledge.

However - in this instance I think it was used in the binary opposition form rather than implying an ongoing process

17. Don't take it so personally. It was not meant personally. |
|
I was not attacking you. (Education means to draw out). I did not "need" the "education" re Wright as I had already done my "homework". I do not think he is some radical dangerous unAmerican extremist cleric. not at all. Nowhere near. Moyers did not change my mind on that.
But I still think Obama (as a politician running for national office) has a pastor problem.

More Moyers would be great. The cable "journalists" and network "journalists" could learn a lot from him.

I think what you saw was clips the MSM cut themselves - I would imagine the whole interview would have been available for a couple days for the MSM.

3. What Do You Mean "Now"? |
|
Are you new to watching television or only now hyper-sensitively paying attention? Teasers aren't exactly a revolutionary concept.

4. Do you not go to a movie because you saw the trailer? The trailer is the ad for it! |
|
Not everything is a nefarious plot.
What you are actually sick of is that you have framed ordinary life -- previews! -- as a threat.
Life becomes your perception of it. You can be peaking and crashing all the time, or smoothly cruising through.

7. This is common practice by many taped interview shows |
|
Shows like "60 Minutes" do this frequently. It's for promotion.

10. That's right. Moyers' show probably has a list that they routinely |
|
send clips to.
That our whore corporate media abuses them is just a fact of life.

8. Seems to me there's a difference between |
|
between teasers by ads and allowing other shows to take whole the thing and build their shows on excerpts about it. That's all I'm saying. Doing that tends to have the opposite effect of attracting viewers to the actual interview.

12. The netroots can push back, though, while the more traditional media |
|
is catching up with the new media math.
We can write letters and blog and put up video. Sometimes it feels like pulling teeth but, imho, we WILL need to continue to expect to stay active for a long time because there is a huge re-organization going on. The upside is that outlets like Fox are losing viewers all the time.

18. Friday morning was all Rev. Wright |
|
it might have been snippets, but the so called News analysis were all ga-ga I wrote to them and asked if they were going to show and discuss this program before it is viewed, such for the mere fact of framing the debate, then we also need to bring McCain into it, along with Haggee.
