Brass tacks - WHY do YOU think corpmedia is lying to voters about HRC's chance to win? |
|
Edited on Sat Apr-26-08 03:05 PM by blm
Corporate media has known since shortly after Super Tuesday that Clinton was UNABLE to win, as McClatchy surveyed the superdelegates and, even though many were not ready to go public, the numbers were certainly OVERWHELMINGLY in Obama's column.
Media has known this since early March, so why do they manipulate voters to believe that Clinton has this chance they know she doesn't have?
I think it's the way they in the media get to tear down Obama and cloak it under cover of a Democrat doing the actual dirty work.
They fear having to be SEEN doing the attacking themselves, but sure have no problem REPEATING the attacks of others, especially other Democrats.
They're in it to win it....for McCain, at this point.
Why do you think they are doing it?

Ratings my ass. Everyone is missing the point. Ask a broker what they think of Obama's Paul Volcker. He saved the U.S. dollar in the 1970s -- with ANTI-REAGANOMICS.

9. I think they're just lazy and jaded. |
|
They see the numbers, know the reality, but don't quite "believe" it. They're too used to reality being skewed with spin- even a flat-out clear win by the numbers.
Who knows, maybe come November reality will be so skewed that our "President" won't even have to win 270 delegates. I can just see it: "Yeah, Obama may have gotten 325 delegates, but the question remains why can't he close the deal???" as McCain drones on and on about the race not being over.

They're waiting for some big implosion. It won't happen, of course.
But they secretly and not so secretly think this way.
And the Clinton campaign is whispering in their ears daily to fuel those doubts.
AND the elongated race makes them lots of money.

They've done very well with the last two pro-business administrations (Clinton, Bush), and they want to keep it that way.
Obama's large grassroots following scares the crap out of them, as they are afraid he might actually feel he owes more to the average citizen than he owes to them.

And they continue to pocket the political ad money and ratings for this other crap to the bank!
And that is also why they HAD to have John Edwards out of the race by now, even as just a power broker, since he's be bring up issues that wouldn't serve this purpose of "distraction". Obama and Hillary along with the media stay away from those issues and serve their purposes perfectly.

16. Same reason they send camera crews to train wrecks - if it bleeds, it leads. |
|
The drama is easy to repackage and sell back to consumers hungry for infotainment. Actual discussions about policy tend to be extremely shallow - in months of watching CNN this spring, not once have I seen stop to discuss how the economy works or what effects this or that policy might have. 'wonkish' has become a code for 'intellectual stuff we don't know much about and are too lazy to learn about in depth'.
Look at the coverage of Bear Sterns' collapse - you'd be hard pressed to get a good understanding of that from most media outlets. Now, you might think that they were covering the GOP as, but back in the 90s they were equally uninformative about the coming dot-com bust. To large extent, the media blows with the wind.
I don't actually agree with your conspiracy theory notion that they're out to crown McCain, at all. The main problem for me is that the media is in the business of providing infotainment. This is not to say that agendas don't exist within the corporate media, but if they were as agenda-driven as you say they would actually do a better job of pushing those ideas.

If folks start bringing the zillion or so Hillary "hot ahaaa news items" to the public eye...they will jump on it. And there are soooooooooooooo many to choose from....inquiring news minds are just waiting to know...but it must be started not by Obama campaign, but by some other source.....some group, some source that does not abide by the "shhhhhhhhhh, don't talk about Hillary" source. Geez if they can make this huge yadayada about such unconnected things as rev wright or bitter, etc..such really silly news storms then just think what could be done to totally discredit Hillary. The rupugs want here because they know that they can distroy her sooooooo easily...that is why they feed the silly so called Obama mispeaks or whatever.....they are saving the multitude of Hillary gotchas until they can (they hope) have the chance to really slam her....if they can only make her the nominee, they know they can win in Nov.

Is run by "corporate" America, which the vast majority of them are republicans! They don't want a democrat in office, and they are doing everything they can to keep this fight going in order to hurt the democrats chance of winning the GE! Some of the republicans have even come out and admitted that they couldn't have done more to tear the party apart. This is their dream, and Hillary knows what is going on, but she wants to destroy Obama's chances to win in the GE so she can run in 2012!

That's what it boils down to. A seat on the plane. If, by some quirk of fate, Hillary managed to become president, she would be in charge of seats on the plane. If you want said seat, you do not want to piss off the Clintons because they hold grudges. (Obama, on the other hand, isn't likely to blame you until the end of time and will most likely offer a seat and a bag of chips, too.) This also holds true for seats in the press room and how many rows back you can stand to be.

Just think about poor little David Gregory with his new "Race to the White House" show. You think he's not going to try to spin whatever he can to extend the race and insure higher ratings for his show, which is explicitly linked to the Presidential campaign? If the Dem race were to end (please, God), the ratings for Gregory's show would tank, and probably not recover until August or September, as the conventions approach.

53. Cable News needs ratings |
|
The ones that don't benefit directly from the "defense" industry (such as the NBC/GE networks) still benefit from the ratings, and both war, and the inter-party soap opera are big wins for them. Tweety Matthews admitted this much on camera the night of the PA primary. The longer Hillary stays in this thing, the more they benefit. And if she steals the nomination, and World War III breaks out (under Grandpa McLoon who would win the General Election) they make even more money.
If things were actually going right in this country, what would Hannity and O'Reilly have to bitch about?
