Obama raised the "temprement" issue on Fox. he should keep that up |
|
In his interview with Fox, Obama very slyly let sopmething slip that IMO should be a bigger issue in the primaries.
When asked what he had learned about himself during the process, Obama referred to his temprement. "I think I had the right temprement for the job. I don't get too high when things are going well, and I don't get too low when they're not."
That -- IMO -- is something that will be important, both in the general and in how a president governs.
After 16 years of "hot politics" with presidents with outsized, mercurial temprements, I think people want a more goal-oriented and steady course. Hillary is not consistent or even tempered, and would lead the country through eight more years of politics as bi-polar drama.
IMO Obama ought to capitalize more on his level-headed approach to politics and governance.

1. A VERY good thing to keep reminding folks of |
|
while others make youtube videos of McCain being angry and flying off the handle. This should become a major theme in the Obama campaign, I think.

Mean old bastard.
By all accounts Dole had this same problem and many in his party weren't all that wild about supporting him for Prez. They seem to give these crazed mean ol' bastards the throw-away runs at the WH. The ones they know they probably can't win.

He was describing himself. He does have an even temperament.
If Hillary throws China, that's her problem, not Obama's.

23. That is the point. You all suggested that he continues that line of |
|
politics. Talking about temprament is veiled sexism coupled with him suggesting that she is a hysterical female.
And the fact that you are now confirming that she throws china is typical of the Obama "truth" make it up, repeat it until you believe it and then hate her for your re-creation.

It's kind of odd that some Hillary supporters assumed that he was contrasting himself with Hillary in the continued bizarre quest to find sexism under every stone.

40. Just before the Texas primary |
|
Edited on Sun Apr-27-08 12:51 PM by TragedyandHope
I heard an interview with an Obama supporter who said that he had gone to see Obama's speech in person a year ago, then once more before before the Primary. The supporter was very happy to see that Obama had maintained a steady and consistent message over the course of this race.
He compared that favorably to other candidates who seem to change their position (or at least their lip-service) on various issues from day to day, not to mention the mercurial personalities of Obama's opponents.
Obama's even temperament and steady hand is exactly what we need to deal with the issues facing the country and to deal with the myriad of international issues and interests. As you say, this is one of his great strengths, and shows a markedly different approach than Bush and either of the other candidates.
