Does anyone expect Obama to just sit idly by and let Bill and Hillary Clinton strong arm the SDs? |
|
The other day, Obama talked about a time to fight and a time to turn away.
He is right to take his message directly to the voters in IN and NC and ignore the chopping at his heels by the Clintons to debate before then. If he loses both IN and NC, I believe then it will be time to debate - fight back, show his ferocity.
I think he will win at least NC on May 6th. Then its his turn to start the "end this" rhetoric.
I just don't see Obama or his team turning over and playing dead if the SDs, for some bizarre reasoning, begin to show signs of overturning his state delegate lead.
I expect to see the Cassius Clay in Obama come out for round 16 (an illegitimate round after the the scorecards are posted)

2. The SD's will not vote as a bloc so why is this even being discussed? |
|
Some will go with Obama and some with Clinton. A roughly 50-50 split on the remaining SD's pushes Obama over the 2025.

8. Yeah, I know. I wasn't specifically addressing this thread. More the MSM |
|
(in the guise of Russert this AM but others throughout) that the "super delegates would vote to overturn.... blah, blah" as if it is some weird bloc that votes as one. The remaining SD's EACH have their own political calculations to make and, in this kind of a situation, some will make the "yes, it's Obama" decision and some the other.
The people who have this vague misunderstanding about the SD's and think they are a bloc vote (most of the MSM, many posters here) must believe it's also easy herding cats. The remaining SD's will split.

Axelrod and the others behind the scenes in the Obama camp aren't doing some strong arming of their own, you are living in a fantasy land!

4. Obama may not be able to stop them. |
|
After all, he is relatively new on the political scene, and is a novice compared to the Clintons. Now that he is in the big leagues, he is finding out how rough the game is, especially as played by Hillary Clinton. Barack better learn fast, and fight back hard, or she will "drink his milkshake".

7. I fear many SDs are scared of being labeled racist by not supporting Obama. |

As a black woman I have noticed that sexism is still okay in our party, at least on the internet, but racism? Not so much.

9. Black superdelegates have already been threatened and intimidated by the Obama campaign |
|
Hillary has to make a strong case to give them an out against the 'racist' charge.
I think many of them are like the rest of us, sick and tired of his campaign charging fellow dems of racism if they choose not to support him.
The SD's vote at the convention, I don't recall if they are public or private, do you?

11. There is plenty going on behind the scenes |
|
Edited on Sun Apr-27-08 01:02 PM by TragedyandHope
Obama has been strategically doling out his SD endorsements. Thankfully, the SDs don't seem to be a susceptible to being caught up the MSM's fantasy horse race narrative. Many of them see that Obama really is the best choice to lead the country, while others probably just see which way the wind is blowing and want to end up on the right side for their political futures.
Either way, Obama can play a lot tougher behind the scenes when the cameras aren't running. Have no doubt that he already is and will continue to do so.
He is fighting for us and for the future of his country. That is why he and Michelle decided to make this great sacrifice. Hillary is fighting for her personal legacy and her entitlement. I think the SDs can see that difference as easily as the American voters have.
