Hey there, DUers! :)--Message from a newbie

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right place (mods, feel free to move if I am not..) but I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Tara and I'm 21 years old, a college student, and as you can see by my avatar, an Obama supporter (yeah, yeah I know..I fit the media stereotype, lol, but anyway..). I first ran across this site shortly before Super Tuesday and have been lurking ever since, but now have to decided to throw my hat into the ring and participate! :)

To give you a little background, I started out for Hillary, than became interested in Edwards, then as I learned more about Obama became tied between him and Edwards while still liking Hillary..but it was the SC debate that really put me over for Obama. Not only did I agree with so much of what he was saying, but I also really admired how he handled himself, while Hillary threw everything she could think of at him, hoping it would stick (and has gotten progressively worse since..). And I really loved his response to her, that he "forgets who he's running against sometimes" (Hillary or Bill) How true! :p I volunteered for him here in Arizona and even got the opportunity to see him speak in Phoenix when he came at the end of January--an amazing experience! :)

Oh and if anyone is wondering, I chose my username based on a recent comment by Pat Buchanan on MSNBC, that only "San Fransciso, latte drinking liberals and college students" are turning out for Obama. So my username is a kind of sarcastic response to that, LOL.

Anyhow, I'm glad to be here and look forward to participating in more conversations soon!

You know, I used to really admire Hillary and was really excited when she announced her candidacy, but now, I kinda wished she wouldn't have. :/ I am so dissapointed in her behavior during this campaign! *shakes head*

I agree! :) You know, we've become increasingly blue (or at least purple, lol) over the years. We elected more dems in '06 and defeated the "defense of marriage act". I think we can put AZ into play in the fall, especially if (or WHEN ;)) Barack is the nominee! :D

Arizona is my second home, and if the weather here doesn't turn around, it might become my first. The main thing that has kept me out of the desert full time has been the Republicans.

Oh,I've lived here for like 15 years and wouldn't vote for John McSame if you paid me! :x LOL. And I know many other Arizonans who feel the same..people don't always vote on who is from their own backyard, so to speak, at least not if they don't like their issues!

And it's funny because here at the U of A, they had like one McCain/College Republican booth on the campus lawn this whole time, and it was gone in like a day...the Obama one stayed for weeks! :D There isn't a whole lot of Hillary activity around here either, except when she came to the UA just before Super Tuesday. But even that was MUCH more than what McCain is getting around here, in his own state! :D haha

I think he'll turn out to be like another Bob Dole.."maverick", my ass! :eyes: Well, let's hope so, anyway!
