What are you attempting or what do you think you achieve when you post threads?
Honest answers please and no flames.

3. when I post theads, its often to tell someone to chill out or to call into question an assumption |
|
and I do it with respect to posts by Obama supporters as well as HRC supporters.
My goal -- to try to bring some semblance of rational thought to GDP, although its generally a wasted effort. I've gotten slammed by Obama supporters when I was trying to be balanced and I've gotten slammed by HRC supporters for doing the same thing.

5. To try and help heal the sick minds of the Hillary Supporters. |
|
If only they'd realize what they are doing by supporting Clinton's attempts to divide the people of the country and the party, they would realize what wrong they do. But they can not see it for they have become a cult of personality in following so blindly.

7. I'm interested to know, too! |

I posted a few polls recently, and a wide majority said their opinions of candidates are NOT changed one way or another by posts from supporters here. And persuasion sure doesn't seem to be the goal, anyway.

11. Alienate as many people as possible whose support their candidate will soon need. |

This would seem to be a counterproductive strategy, but that's just old politics, you know.

... unless you agree with it, of course.
In other words, I'm trying to berate, degrade and humiliate you into supporting my candidate. We're dispensing with the old ways of doing things, you see.

I'm not an "Obama supporter," although after a few weeks following DU closely, I'm leaning that way.
I see some intemperate and rude remarks from Obama supporters -- probably about par for online discussion boards, which I've been involved in since before there was such a thing as Windows or the WWW as we know it. These boards tend to be pretty rough.
However, I see a lot of positive posts from Obama supporters and I've been impressed in general. The signal-to-noise ratio is pretty high.
What I see from the Hillary supporters -- and this is what has pushed me toward Obama -- is a meanness and rudeness that's uncalled for. I've seen very little positive -- mostly slams against Obama. And even in the positive posts, of which there have been very few, the writers can't seem to resist the temptation to get in one little dig against Obama and his supporters.
The pro-Hillary posts seem to consist mostly in posting ephemeral and meaningless poll results, gloating over imagined "victories," name-calling, repeating Rove-style gossip. I've really seen few posts telling us why we should support Hillary in a way that goes beyond her campaign rhetoric, which I already know. The signal-to-noise ratio is very low.

Earlier in the primary season I appreciated those reports from DUers in other states. I try now to just to comment in the more newsworthy or positive threads regarding Obama and the more outrageous or dishonest posts from you Hillary supporters.

Granted, I have a bias as an Obama supporter, but I try to discuss (and sometimes argue) from a position of equality.
I'll call Clinton supporters on their garbage posts, but I'll also take outrageous pro-Obama posts to task.
