2. Here's how it works....

A) As soon as Obama is OFFICIALLY the nominee, this forum will be renamed "GD: General Election".

B) After that point, a lot of Clinton fans on here will be tombstoned the very next time they attack our nominee.

7. I OBJECT to the notion that the losing side will simply want to cuddle up to the opposing candidate.
Some Hill supporters are SUSTAINED by her persona. MORALLY invested; like she is a personal friend of theirs.

10. When will the acrimony end?
If there is no cuddling up?

12. They will have no choice.... attacks on our nominee, once this forum is called GD: GE....will result
..in tombstones.

That's always been the rule.

Hillary supporters will be welcome here once the primary is over, as long as they do not make it their objective to denigrate Obama.

16. Cuddling up is not required
but snarky negative comments about the nominee won't be tolerated by the Board police.

25. No one has to forsake their candidate. I, for example, am an
Edwardsian Deanocrat who started out supporting Richardson and now I'm supporting Obama.

When your guy or gal is out of the race for the nomination, you just have to re-define their role in the party, you don't have to betray them.

32. It was the same with Howard Dean last time.
He told Tim Russert today that it took him three months to get his followers to transition over to working for the Kerry campaign. It can be done though.

And it will only end then because no more lambasting our Party's nominee will be permitted here on DU.

8. GDP tends to be more "spirited" than the other boards to begin with.
Once the nomination is settled, most of us will pull together and back the nominee.

(Yes, I said most and I'm sticking to it.)

Personally, I can't wait to start kicking McNasty's butt.

Yup, that's GD-P all right. We are indeed spirited. :bounce:

I like that a lot better than the descriptors I've seen of GD-P in the other forums. Would you believe that some consider GD-P the mudpit? The slimepit? The darkest of hells?

Like Rev Wright would say, we who haunt the threads of GD-P are different, not deficient.:D

36. True that.
As a board, this one tends to be somewhat more energetic, let's say. I think spirited works well.

We're just invested in the process, I tell ya.

27. I have 349 posters on
ignore... and I hardly see their ghostly traces on a majority of threads in GDP.

Of course, I don't see the threads they originate at all.

But at least they are staying away from threads they don't start.

Though there are people who piss me off, I mostly leave them alone. I think it's interesting to see as much of the whole thing as I can.

34. I never had anyone on ignore
until this campaign season... in fact, up until the Nevada caucus.

I started the list as a defense mechanism...

I was spending too much time debating people who will never accept my point of view and I will never accept theirs. In addition, I cannot read something that I know to be a falsehood and just let it go... which led to me spending even more time in DU than I can afford, not to mention that it would leave me aggravated to no end, which is the object of the other sides arguments. Not to win, but to simply aggravate those of us that are fairly certain we have "facts" on our side.

And, finally, I have so many on ignore because I do not wish to engage and get into a response cycle where I type things which are against DU rules and get me my very own granite cookie.

As soon as we have a nominee, everyone comes off ignore.

35. I can't blame you. There's some very dumb mean people around.
Being mean is one thing, but being so dumb you don't know how dumb you are is real frustrating to others.

The little bit I do mix it up with trolls and freeps, they don't seem to want to carry it on too long. That's probably not due to my brilliance ;) as much as it is due to their limitations.
