Haven't seen Wrights NAACP speech? Must see! But SKIP the "Let me break it down for you" punditry! |
|
Edited on Sun Apr-27-08 10:16 PM by asSEENonTV
I watched the speech and just knew CNN would spin this as "Obama Trouble"
Then they pick people to comment on the speech who haven't even seen it?

Is CNN trying to destroy Obama or what? Problem is, there's absolutely nothing wrong with what Wright is saying tonight. It's actually pretty good stuff. But I'm sure the closet bigots will take issue with it I guess. :eyes:

6. I think CNN's producers are, but the on air people like Sanchez, Martin, and Soledad are not |
|
They really enjoyed the speech today, but then CNN goes and finds two people who hadnt seen the speech to comment on it.

It was a terrific speech, not unlike Dr. King's during the last few months of his life. I have read many of Reverend Wright's speeches, and his social conscience, take action message, and fire brand oratory style are very much in the tradition of many black churches. The times I have sat in the pew in southern black churches with my black ex husbands family I have been very moved, sometimes to tears. And I am an atheist!
While white folks practically deify Dr. King now days, during the he was preaching he was severely attacked for his "anti" sermons. His anti war, anti discrimination, and anti poverty message, and his leading people to take it to the streets of America were all demonized. People openly hated him. Called him un American, a Commie, and put him on enemies lists. He was stalked, spied on, harassed, and murdered. (And no, like the King family, I don't buy the lone nut story either.)
Anyway, I hope for Reverend Wright's safety.

13. Rev. Wright has been in the heart of urban America |
|
for all these years.
They don't fear him because they view him as powerless and meaningless at this pt.

I quite disagree.
Did you see his interview with Bill Moyers the other night? Bill asked Rev. Wright about the reaction of his church to the way he's been portrayed so negatively, and he said they were hurt and they were angry. I'm sure some of that hurt and anger is because the way the M$M has portrayed the Reverend is the same way they portray most black people, but I also think they feel this way is because they have a lot of respect for the Reverend, and don't like seeing him treated in the shabby way he has been treated by the media.

16. Oh they're parsing it this morning on MSNBC! |
|
Jerks. Mika and Tucker Carlson are "interpreting" things and getting all offended by his explanation on "accents" and then on Barack's middle name and how Arabic is not a religion. They are just aching to find something offensive. Jerks!
I'm going to take my own advice and buy a Bozo doll & put Tucker's face on it. He's such a clown and he already has the bowtie. :P
