Who says the VP don't make a difference? |
|
My Mother in law is now considering voting for Kerry now that Edwards is on the ticket. She supported him in the primary's but is a moderate. After Kerry won the nod, she thought about voting Shrub. Now with Edwards on board she is having a change of hart.

1. Agreed. Picking Edwards will help Kerry a lot in the election. |

2. After listening to the news this afternoon |
|
I got the impression that the election had more to do with Edwards vs Cheney rather than Kerry vs Bush.
I guess VP is in this election.

3. Edwards needs to get out into the rural areas and sell Kerry |
|
while some will vote becaue they like the vp. most will vote based on top of the ticket. and that's how the vp , edwards will help. he will convince those who came from the same places he came from to vote for kerry. unlike bush, edwards is the real thing.

I think Edwards should spend the last 2 months of the election campaigning in the Mid-west and in the Mason-Dixon States. He could win us some "un-winnable states". He has good rural appeal.

5. It makes a difference, absolutely! |
|
First, it focuses attention on the candidate
If the VP pick is a good one, it shows the candidate making a decision
It gets 1 person in the media that can say the good things that need to be said about the candidate --things that the candidate himself cannot say
and...for some examples:
in 1992, think of the image of Clinton and Gore with their wives embarking on that bus tour. That projected an image of young, competence and vigor. Whoever projects that, usually wins.

6. It makes a difference this time |
|
Edwards will make a difference. Some of the other possible choices - all good men - would not have made a negative difference but probably wouldn't have helped in the election either. Edwards is one of the ones that can help win the election.

7. I think Edwards is most efficiently used by having him campaign |
|
in the moderately large cities in OH, KY, MI, etc. These cities are a mix of Dems, Reps, and Independents, including many who traditionally have little interest in politics. Lots of voters there who might otherwise stay home, and they are people who will respond to his message.

8. He will make a positive difference. |

I know several 'pubs who will now be voting for Kerry 'cause they like Edwards so much.
On CNN website they were referring to Kerry/Edwards as the Democratic Duo. Kind of like our own political super heroes :P

9. I have heard a lot of good things so far about Edwards out this... |
|
...way also, from conservatives and liberals alike. Kerry is still not exactly what one would call liked, but Edwards is a winner. The phrase "he is trust able" is a common theme about him.
