McCain wants Roe V. Wade overturned... Now, is that enough to convince Democrats
who say they won't vote for Obama if he's the nominee (AND VICE VERSA) to vote for EITHER Democratic nominee in November...

"Another theme we can expect in future ads is McCain's position on abortion. A direct quote from his Website is: John McCain believes Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned ... . Almost nobody knows this. They will by November. If Obama wins the nomination, an ad publicizing McCain's position on abortion will surely be targeted at Clinton supporters who now say they will vote for McCain if Clinton loses the nomination. If Clinton wins the nomination, she will run such ads, too, as she has been strongly pro-choice her whole life and it draws a bright line between her and McCain.

1. Just in case anyone thinks this is a "loser issue" for us...
While fanning the flames among the right-wing pro-criminalization base may be good for getting out the vote among Goopers, overturning Roe is an incredibly unpopular prospect among a majority of Americans. See:

http://pollingreport.com/abortion.htm

"In general, do you agree or disagree with the 1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that established a woman's right to an abortion?"
Agree 62%, Disagree 32%

"Would you like to see the Supreme Court overturn its 1973 Roe versus Wade decision concerning abortion, or not?"
Yes 35%, No 53%

and says there should be state level decisions.

5. Defending "States Rights" using that good ole "Southern Strategy" is HRC coming back to
her early days as "a Goldwater Girl. :eyes:

Your link doesn't refute what I posted it reinforces it.

"This decision, which is one of the most fundamental, difficult and soul searching decisions a woman and a family can make, is also one in which the government should have no role. I believe we can all recognize that abortion in many ways represents a sad, even tragic choice to many, many women."

Not out of context, not spun.

Read it.

I said she still believes in protecting rights

The "Government" in her statements has always been federal.

And her own agenda on Roe VS Wade is to replace Roe VS Wade because it is "bad law"

"Hillary will sign into law the Freedom of Choice Act, which would codify Roe v. Wade"

You probably should read with open eyes before accusing someone of "outright lies" when in reality its just your own confusion.

4. Hell, at this point if it would promise HRC more votes, she'd be the first to overturn Roe v. Wade.
:grr:

9. That's honestly my fear....
..as it is my fear on most issues with her. That she'll do anything and everything for republicans and "average americans" to like her so that she's going to over compensate in the opposite direction for every decision she has to make.

6. McCain will say anything to get the fundies on his side.
That's why he's not trustworthy as a 'maverick,' a conservative, or a moderate.

He's a liar. All he wants is to hoard his money closer to him by making those tax cuts permanent and to keep sponging for and from corporations.

8. McCain was never a "maverick", he only plays one in the media (plus they
let him get away with it).....I've said previously that I thought McBush should have won the Oscar for "Best Actor" & not Daniel Day Lewis, as his performance as a PHONY moderate is tops in a leading role....

10. One would hope so
although I wonder if Rush's so-called Operation Chaos (or whatever) has taken root here as well, and a lot of those saying "I won't vote for _____" are being, how shall we say, less than honest citizens.

Speaking of which, why does the Right seem to hate and fear democracy so much? Oh, that's right - because they know they've been screwing the people for too long to let us have a say.

Don't fall for it. Rise above. If nothing else, explain why you'll vote no matter what, and don't sink to their level if they must be childish.
