I think that it is sad that Barack Obama has to appease
some people this country because they don't want to hear the truth about their ancsetors or in some cases themselves. White people slaughtered blacks and damn near caused an extinction of native americans. White immigrants mainly the Irish and the Italians were treated like shit. Racism exist because of ignorance. Or the fear of the unknown. We won't see the day but hopefully when we are gone there will be alot less of this shit. There will always be racism in the world to some extent. We aill also have sexism in this world as long as people walk on this rock we call earth. I believe that the media see these issues as too much change right now.

4. Economics
A lot of it goes back to economics, the poorer elements of this country have to be divided along racial and religious lines lest they recognize their common plight. Look at Bacon's rebellion in colonial Virginia, the last rebellious group to surrender was a mixture of white indentured servants and slaves. There has been a conscious effort in this country, especially in the South, to foster animosity between poor whites and poor black. This mentality has been employed whenever there is any noticeable increase in immigration. This strategy is less blatant today but still very much of some politicians' playbooks, take for instance the hysteria over extralegal immigration. Lastly, they sometimes incite us to anger against the GLBTQ community, rousing our fears bourn of our ignorance.

5. No, I think it's good for our country. I've learned a lot myself
about the Black experience in this country since Wright entered the picture, since I started reading Obama's books, heard his speech, etc. It's a dialogue that's been long overdue. So if we don't listen and heed the message now, when will/would we? I'm ready.

10. It's clear that Texas Hill is one of the racist that we are talking
about. They hate to hear about their faults. These people fo not want to hear about all of the pople their ancetors. Well hell she is from Texas she may have been one of the ladies eating while watching a black man being hung and burned. Or maybe hergrandfather or father actually were the ones that were guilty of those terrosit acts.
