The energy industry couldn't run Cheney, so Cheney had to pick his vehicle. I just wonder if W was his first choice. Mabye it was Jeb.

but was not sure of what you meant. i know cheney did have plans to run for president in 1996 but didn't go through with it because his daughter is lesbian.

i don't think cheney would run with jeb though since jeb actually does do part of the decision making. they needed someone who would not get in the way of cheney being in control and gwbush was the perfect one. i think dan quayle is another one but he was already seen in a negative way by most at that time.
