The media has done it again....just like in 04. People are scurrying like rats...
away from Obama...fearful of being tainted by Jeremiah Wright's portrayal in the media.

People here today are even blaming Obama sort of...mentioning he might have asked Wright to do this media blitz.

I posted that Hillary's campaign is pushing this...feeding the frenzy. No one particularly cares.

After all, it is just "politics".

The same thing happened here in 04. This board was used to put the final nails in Dean's coffin after the so-called scream.

Hillary's campaign is using this as a wedge issue, the media is taking it up with passion.

And people here are blaming Wright and Obama.

Congratulations to the Establishment Media.

They did it again.

Soon they will be giving Obama his t-shirt:

An edgy moment of own-expense laughter is the best that reporters and an about-to-drop-out presidential hopeful can hope for, as a campaign enters what everyone knows is its final hours.

Hence, candidate -- and media critic -- Howard Dean reacted with humor Tuesday in Milwaukee as journalists presented him with a long-sleeve white T-shirt. It carried the motto "Establishment Media" in front, and a slogan swiped from Dean in the back: "We Have the Power, Dean Press Corps 2004."

They are still the big winners.

Congratulations also to the Hillary campaign for their use of this wedge issue. People accepted it as "just politics."

We've come a long way, baby...now we accept everything.

1. Obama still has a chance. He will have to completely denounce Wright
and attack Hillary non-stop until the NC and Indiana primaries

That's EXACTLY what she wants. That way she can whip out that old 'victim' card, about how all those nasty progressives are beating up on her.

Fuck that.

He's going to keep to the high road and WIN.

30. No he doesn't have to denounce Rev. Wright

Rev. Wright is not running for office!

My thoughts from a previous post........ everyone has the right to defend their
name and he waited a long time to do it.

He did it with kindness, not meanness.

He was more than gracious when interviewed by Bill Moyers. Should he have waited until White America gave him permission to speak! He is not in jail and he does not have to ask permission from a judge to speak!

Should he have gotten Barack Obama's approval to speak? No!

Some "Democrats" forget that he was being honored by the NAACP.

That is a very high honor and he certainly had the right to speak while accepting that award.
The NAACP honors people of all races and religions.

That is the essence of CIVIL RIGHTS.

The last time I checked, that is what the Democratic Party stands for.

That is what the Constitution should stand for...

As an African American who has attended the NAACP Dinners in Detroit for many years, I am thrilled that he was honored, on many levels.

The NAACP does not make decisions based on what White America believes they should do. Thurgood Marshall fought for the rights of the NAACP and MLK died for the right for ALL people to be treated fairly, even garbage workers.

Rev. Wright didn't ask CNN to bring their cameras into the dinner. CNN made that choice.

For once, CNN "allowed" us to hear his full speech.

Now we have the spin begin. Others can let the MSM control their brain but I won't give them that power over my brain.

SPINNERS give it a go because the NAACP does not need the approval of WHITE people or the majority of BLACK people. It was the vote of the BOARD MEMBERS of the NAACP and that is their privilege.

I salute the Board of the NAACP for honoring him before 11,000 people, of all races and religions!

God bless you NAACP and I am sending you a donation of $500 today.

I have spoken to my mother, 89 years old, about some of the statements that I just read here at DU and she directed my steps," Get out my checkbook, send the NAACP $1000 this morning!"

goclark ~ proud to be an American,an African American, a member of the NAACP and a Democrat that believes that we are "one nation under God."

What he is worrying about is the American Public's ability to separate them. And that is a valid worry.

7. Don't worry, this is the last dead - cat bounce of the MSM and HRC joint campaign.
Obama has the nomination locked up and the more people pile onto him for stuff he is not directly responsible for, the more the AA and right-thinking people are going to move towards him. In the end, he will win big-time.

Wait and watch.

8. Wright is pushing Wright
Pastor Wright's PR blitz: "as selfish of a move as we've seen in some time"

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=5715832&mesg_id=5715832

FIRST THOUGHTS.
*** You're So Vain, You Probably Think This Campaign Is About You: After addressing the NAACP yesterday in Detroit, Jeremiah Wright travels to the heart of the media beast -- the National Press Club in DC -- where he has been speaking this morning. At this point, no matter one's political inexperience, Wright has to know he's not helping his friend; his decision to go public and defend his reputation at this point in the campaign is doing nothing to help Obama, if anything, it's leading some to believe he's actually trying to sabotage him. He's hurting him and hurting him very badly. Frankly, it's as selfish of a move as we've seen in some time. Imagine, for example, if Norman Hsu or Vicki Iseman were doing publicity tours right now. Maybe, if there's a silver lining for Obama, he's giving Obama a very easy chance to simply walk away. Remember, Obama didn't toss Wright under the bus, but Wright appears to be doing that to Obama's candidacy. Still, if Wright Vol. 1, "bitter," and Pennsylvania didn't move superdelegates, what will? Nevertheless, Obama seems to be starting off this week in about as bad of shape as we've seen in him in some time.

12. What gets said in private conversations with Super Delegates is back room politics
Since they are held privately that part is not an effort to sway public opinion against anyone. No doubt those conversations are just as hard nosed as the internal discussions each campaign has with their own campaign stratagists, where every angle, every asset and liability, gets raised.

The Main Stream Media is not our friend.

Dammmit! It's time to stand up to these a**holes who TWIST everything to keep The Power Elites stealing the people blind with wedge issues.

These so called "democratic elders" best realize the if they allow HRC to walk away with the Democratic Nomination by smearing Obama and over-riding the Delegate Count - THERE WILL BE HELL TO PAY ---> The Democratic Party will be the elders and HRC's DLC. The rest of us will be GONE! :grr:

16. I am not running away from Obama
Edited on Mon Apr-28-08 01:31 PM by CatsDogsBabies
I donated today and plan to get a group of neighbors together to make calls to Indiana/North Carolina. I think Obama is the best candidate. I think it would be wonderful for him to win in the GE. I think the Rev. Wright issue is a distraction to Obama's campaign. If Rev. Wright actually said he was going to be Obama's VP, I think the Obama campaign needs to cut him loose completely. Rev. Wright has no business making statements like this - he sounds unhinged. Let's focus on the candidate. Remember, Obama made his own speech about race. Rev. Wright is not running for POTUS. Rev. Wright is not running for POTUS. Rev. Wright is not running for POTUS .....

28. MadFloridian...
It is an uphill battle as it always has been. If the media's 24/7 'God Damn America' excerpt did not stop the Obama campaign, there is reason to believe this won't either. The Reverend Wright issue was not going away. Reverend Wright laid it all out there. We need to wait and see how this plays out. It isn't easy to have the audacity to hope, but what the hell...why not?

29. My problem with Obama is not Rev. Wright but his appearance on the Fascist Propaganda Network
also know as Faux News.

Obama's campaign promised liberal bloggers that Obama would "take on" Fox, but Obama fell flat. His performance was mediocre at best, but Faux News won the debate with Obama before the interview began. What Obama proved to Reich wingers is that if they nag, cajole, and humilate a Democrat long enough they will cave into their desires.

Shame on Obama for going on Faux News and helping strengthen Right Wing talking points about him, liberals/progressives and Democrats!

31. The media are farts in a tornado
I'm seeing more and more people that just plain don't Believe them anymore.. Their lies have been major and the way they Harp on some small thing just drives people nuts..

More folks are believing what a candidate SAYS and thats why Billery is getting nowhere, the lies are too Obvious, the sleaze is too petty against Obama, and when his campaign has nothing roasting her then HE is the one NOT making attack ads, people notice that someone's taking the high road despite the media..

They are like chattering monkeys, like a drill running next to your head... In many ways they've shit the bed to the point where many no longer listen, literally tuning them out, and in the end I think Obama is using this trend, while Billery is struck in the 80's using old time bitchy petty politics and media prattle that many folks are just sick of..

The media is that guy who never shuts up and talks about everything, harping to the point where you just blow him off...
