Splitting the Dems, splitting blacks, splitting black churches... |
|
The Obama run for the presidency has turned out to be just what my husband said it would be when he first announced. I have to give my spouse credit on this one. I have been a Clinton supporter from day one but I thought the Obama run was a positive shot in the arm to American politics, society, and black youth. My spouse on the other hand said Obama was making a big mistake by running now and not waiting until 2012 or 1016. He thought he was a bit arrogant to believe that he should be in position to win the Dem nomination with such scant time in the public eye. Then he said he would use his biracial identity when it suited him and anyone who would dare to run against him, camapign against him would be charged with being a racist or playing the race card...no matter who it would be. When Hillary was the only one left standing, my spouse said she would be at a terrible disadvantage because the band of Dems who actually hated the Clintons would swing into gear with their money and power base and this coupled with blacks feeling that Obama should be the nominee and get their support for history's sake would divide us like never before. I told him he was just envious of Obama because he was good-looking and a charmer (kidding him). He looked at me with scorn and said that what should be a cake walk for the Dem into the WH would now become a walk on hot coals. He was right.
Being of mixed parentage myself, I know some of the feelings that lie deep down under the cumbya quilt of the young, the rich, and the haters.
All the whining by Obama supporters who are now crying that Obama should not be criticized by "guilt by assocciation." But of cours, this would not be the case where Hillary is concerned. They have made the Clintons guilty of everything from murder to treason merely using "guilt by assocciation." Bradley was really disgusting on MSNBC this morning. Decrying Hillary for using the old politics and resorting to the very thing he was speaking against by avoiding answering a direct question by bringing up Bill Clinton's foundation contributers from when Bill was in office. The schisms will be deep and lasting. Obama should bow out if he cares at all about this country more than his own political ambitions. It's not Rev Wright who is being selfish...at least he is not alone.

3. In order to believe that argument, you have to believe |
|
the Clintons have no control over what comes either out of their mouths or out of their campaigns. And if you believe that, how can you support them?

what comes out of their mouths.

6. Your husband sounds like a very wise man. |

I too thought that this election should of been a smoother ride, but it has not been. Let's try and finish this race out, and then quickly get behind the winner.

8. You HRC folks need to go re-group back "On Base" - these latest theads are just SAD. |
|
... and I also suggest you might "mix it up" by allowing some of the newer recruits to pile-on in different orders?
In other words, it's getting way WAY too easy to decipher your M.O.
Good Luck, see ya soon.

9. Splitting blacks and black churches? Where? |
|
Obama pulls about 90% of the black vote. Not much of a split, is there? and what church has been split?

but he is winning. And calling someone on their racist tactics is NOT playing the race card. It's not calling them racists. He called them on the tactics they used to excite the racists, and if you want to pretend they were not aware of what they were doing, never forget Bill Clinton has been lauded for years for being one of the smartest politicians of our time, he's from the racist south, just as I am. I knew what his words meant. He knows what his words mean.
And, his library donor list IS very relevant when we're talking millions in donations from members of foreign governments and who else? A LOT more relevant than someone's angry pastor. If there's nothing to see there, then what's the big deal? You cannot be that naive. Bill Clinton is a former U.S. President, trying to get back into the WH. You don't think that has enormous sway? Really?
Does it not bother you that he personally delivered his friend/uranium mining business partner to Uribe in Colombia for a private meeting? Does it not bother you that Senator Clinton rightly calls herself the Senator of Punjab when she's in India meanwhile working to help ship even MORE jobs to India? Those are the "guilt by associations" that matter. (Those are the first 2 that comes to mind, but I have absolutely NO doubt a more comprehensive list can be compiled and so I guess I'll get on that for you).
