I am sick and tired of being called a racist for supporting Hillary Clinton. I am also sick and tired of being called a racist for ANY comment I make against ANY African-American if it is construed to not be praise. Uh, it has NOTHING to do with skin color. Period.

I will vote for Obama and campaign for him as hard as I can if he is our nominee. Hope Hillary gets it but I will vote for Obama if he gets it.

Maybe it seems like a case of "all labor leaders are sympathetic to the working class. That's how they avoid belonging to it."

A pastor is typically somebody who stands in front of a crowd and urges them to give their money to this ministry, to help the needy. It's kinda disgusting when they seemed to have helped themselves. 1.6 million would buy 45 of my homes.

That doesn't mean institutionalized racism is a thing of the past, but for somebody to get up and complain about it and also accept money to help fix it, while also taking a very generous cut for himself. Seems like he cares much more about himself than he does about those who are suffering. I have certainly criticized Hagee and Graham and Osteen for the same thing.

Save your anger for your enemies. Sometimes your friends and allies might be paranoid, but sometimes they can see you better than you see yourself. You don't have some free pass to say anything about any black person and never get charged as racist. Not until people get to know you.

However, I do think that charge may be tossed around too lightly as well. People read one or two lines, and then, even though they know almost nothing about you, start making charges. That kind of snap judgementalism is crap, but understandable too, because feigned outrage can give a person an edge.

Remember that most people here don't actually believe the ridiculous spin they are posting.

The ignore function is almost (but not quite) as good as a tombstone. It makes the annoying people disappear.


TAKING SOME RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN BEHAVIOR

Look in the mirror. If your behavior makes you part of the problem, stop complaining! Or better yet, knock it off!

If you keep participating in the infighting about the primaries, then perhaps you are getting some utility from it.

"Everybody else does it" is not an excuse.

BEING A GOOD DU CITIZEN

Remember that simply because something is not forbidden by the DU rules does not mean it is constructive, civil, or appropriate. If you are serious about improving the tone in the GDP forum, you should start by becoming the type of DU citizen you expect others to be. Here are a few ideas:

Read the DU rules and follow them.

Call the candidates by their appropriate names: Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, or Senator Clinton and Senator Obama.

Do not refer to candidate supporters using derogatory names. Say "Clinton supporters" and "Obama supporters."

Do not make broad-brush statements about supporters of either candidate.

Remember that supporters of both candidates are good people who want what's best for this country, and for the world.

Don't just stick up for your own candidate. Defend BOTH candidates against unfair, misleading, bigoted, or otherwise inappropriate attacks.

Don't believe something simply because it is favorable to your candidate, or because it is unfavorable to the other.

Be extra sensitive when discussing issues related to race and gender.

Don't act like a jerk.

Don't be a hypocrite.

Use your brain.

After reading the above, act upon it.
