Looks like Obama's candidacy has just derailed.
There's simply too much negative controversy surrounding Obama for him to get elected now, and on top of it all, polls show Hillary beating McCain by a considerably wide margin while Obama only ties McCain. At this point I'm afraid it will be impossible for Obama to win back those bitter, white, working-class folks whose votes he so sorely needs to win. It was certainly an impressive run, but it's over.

Obama's negatives are just coming to light and they're having a devastating effect on his campaign.

60. Just think where she'd be if the GOP got a hold of her. She's had it easy....
...because Obama doesn't want to get down to her level of Bush/Rove pig-slop politics.

Unfortunately, that is exactly where Hillary feels the most comfortable.

27. Not yet anyway.
But "IF" she did become the nominee, then we will see a hundred times more "negative" stuff coming out on her by the republicans. No doubt at all in my mind that if Hillary were to get the nomination, the dems lose in November, and Rove, Rush, and all the other idiots in the republican party will have won!

If they hadn't based their campaign on nothing but bashing, we'd be a lock in November.

Guess they don't care if the war goes on for another four years, or another hundred.

Guess they don't care if what's left of the New Deal dies.

46. Well, here's some REAL research for you
(not for Obama lovers - if you're an Obama lover, don't click on this link and read the story. Oh, and BartCop and I are only the messengers. If you have a beef about this info, please contact the author of the piece.)

http://www.bartcop.com/the-coming-attacks.htm

Bottom line: Obama is not only dirty, he is very dirty, and has consistently lied about the true extent of
his involvement with Rezko and Auchi. Reporters for both Chicago newspapers, the Tribune and the
Sun-Times, have also done a lot of digging on Obama, apparently over stiff resistance from the publishers.

I started my research by checking land records in Cook County (remember what I told you about librarians!). Curiously, I found no records for Barack and Michelle Obama for any "mansion," only for a condominium unit they had owned up until 2005. I only found the land records for the house he bought in 2005 because, when he released his 2006 tax return, the address was on the face of the return. Hint: in Lexis you can do public records searches on addresses as well as names. When the land records came up, mortgage, tax assessor, and deed records were in the name, not of Barack and Michelle Obama but of a "Trust #10209," listed at the Northern Trust Bank. The tax assessor records are even more interesting: the owner of the property is listed as one William Miceli, who it turns out is the partner of the community development law firm that hired Obama after he graduated from Harvard Law. More on "community development" later.

Therefore, Obama ≠ Rezko, however Clinton = Rezko (thanks to "Individual H" - which you NEED to Google)

72. I don't have a dog in that hunt
I noticed that the paper did not ask any hard questions, or at least they did not report them. Hopefully, I also won't have to defend a corrupt candidate in the general. Just for fun, though, why was Obama's land purchase not done in his own name? Do you know of any other home investors who do that? What do you think, after thoughtful analysis?

And once more, I know I'll be attacked for this, but I hold Hillary to the same standard. I admit I don't much like either of them on a personal level, but either would make a fine president, particularly compared to our chimp in chief.

I want to win. Those who are unwilling to expolore the negatives are ostriches with their heads in the sand, because these things WILL be explored ad infinitum in the press between now and November. I say let's do our own vetting, BEFORE the candidates are cast in stone.

96. she can't even win the nomination, how the hell will she win a GE?
55% negative rating, probably even higher than that now, bankrupt, lost a huge lead in PA, more and more Democrats hate her and would sit out the election (count me among those), repukes hate her and would be motivated to vote against her come hell or high water, bleeding superdelegates (went from a couple hundred more than Obama to only 20 more than he), can't get enough pledged delegates to win the nomination, has turned people off by her gutter politics and treacherous backstabbing, flip-flopper on every issue, doesn't stand for anything, pathetically and embarrassingly desperate-acting, repukes have a warehouse full of dirt they can't wait to bring out about her -- IT ALL ADDS UP TO LOSER, which you know very well and gloat over--but your operation chaos plans are foiled.

31. Or in 2012, after she loses in 2008 if she gets the nomination
I said that I will vote for her if she gets it, but I know a lot of people, mostly African American but some white people too, who will simply stay home if she is the nominee and they feel she got it unfairly. I went to NC over the weekend with a few other Obama supporters, mostly African Americans, who said that if she steals the nomination they won't vote for her, and I can hardly say I blame them. And even though I will vote for her, I'd be lying if I said there were not a part of me that wanted her to lose so that Obama gets another chance in 2012.

(plausible to white folks, of course)

They congratulate each other, saying how they "really tried" to support the black guy, and reinforce each other that they're not racist. And walk away shaking their heads in faux-disappointment "it's such a shame that Obama guy didn't work out. He was so articulate. Well maybe one day there'll be a black person who truly deserves white support".

Good try indeed.

It does not surprise me that the person who does not know the difference between singular and plural cannot count delegates, either.

she's doing the right thing by staying in obviously if she's most electable. what if obama fell below mccain? would we rather lose the election than elect hillary? that's sad. i'm not taking sides on who would be better--both of them can't win, however.

edited to include:

honestly, whether or not HRC drops out has nothing to do with whether or not the news will play wright in the future. it does, however, have an effect on who gets the non obama vote. i hope it's a democrat personally.

I also don't think it really affects things that much. Wright has already been introduced. Obama dealt with it so effectively that it almost turned into a plus. He will probably be able to do it again. For all of his "noobie experience", he has shown to quite a master politician and campaigner, thus bourne out by him leading in all of the key metric of this race. Just watch and learn who you're dealing with.

82. The Pennsylvania red-neck swing-voters will all be voting for McCain b/f its all said & done.
Edited on Mon Apr-28-08 07:20 PM by Dr Fate
Same in any state, really.

Look- if Hillary can convince certain swing voters that ANY Democrat is an "elitist, racist, unpatriotic terrortist"- then wait until McCain and the entire media gets to have a few 100 chats with them about the Democrat.

LOL- they dont call 'em "swing voters" for nothin!!!

And before you call me "elitist"-I'm not talking about the smart DEMS or the non-racist DEMOCRATS who voted for Hillary... the red-neck swing-voters I'm talking about are the ones who were easily race-baited by Hillary's Willie Horton style tactics and the ones who "are not ready for a black president"- These voters will easily be swung back to McCain...

85. Problem is Hillary has no road to victory in the electoral college.
Her campaign obviously believes they can win in Ohio and Florida, but they can't. She could flip maybe 1 state from '04. She isn't getting there.

That being said, Obama only has one longshot road to victory, and he has to run the table, which is close to impossible.

92. Obama only losing working class in certain areas
Here in northern Minnesota, in an iron mining community where nearly every white middle class family owns a motor boat, a snowmobile, and a few guns, and many people are members of the steel workers union, Obama won the local caucus by 50 people to 20. State wide polls in Minnesota show Obama leading both Hillary and McCain by huge margins. Of course, we don't have very many racists here in Minnesota, and our women are have the self confidence that they can break through glass ceilings on their own, thank you, without giving Billary a third term in the Oval Office.

That's the way it is. Hans

The AP has Hillary beating McCain while the Zogby and Rasmussen (both posted earlier) show Obama beating McCain...polls mean nothing this early. Besides Hillary's negatives far out weigh ANYTHING that could come up against Obama. We have yet to see what the rethugs will throw at Hillary.

and some of the other goofs that Bill and Hillary have both made. Really, this is not earthshattering news. Some will beleive it, most will forget it and something else will come along- most likely this time to Hillary.
The Wright issue has peaked. What else can be reported on or even said? After all, Wright isn't running for anything.

105. O, come on...
HRC's campaign was never even on the tracks. Repeating a statement over and over again doesn't make it true. Is that a command you are giving people when you say "there is simply too much negative.... blah blah blah" People's negative feelings for Clinton must run a lot deeper than any negative feeling towards Obama, this is the only thing that can explain the FACT that she is losing. She lost. I realy think it is over for her. This was the last ditch effort of her campaign, her plan B when Obama declined her desperate invitation to duel ("debate").

The media can yap all they want. People can spew idiotic nonsense. At the end of the day, Obama walks off with the most delegates and wins.

Hillary Clinton, in the midst of all this Wright barrage against Obama, can only wrest a couple of Supers and one endorsement? Come on, she toast! Even after her SINGLE DIGIT win in PA, Obama's still getting the lion's share of NEW super delegate endorsements.

It's over. Obama's the nominee.

You can bad-mouth him all you want, but isn't going to change the fact that he's the nominee.
