Gov. Dean, Let It Go to the Convention! |
|
Edited on Mon Apr-28-08 05:20 PM by Crisco
1. Neither HC nor BO supporters will be as nasty or as bitter towards each other as they were in March, now that it's been demonstrated that whomever the nominee is will have to work for it and nothing is going to be handed to anyone. (It also helps that Obama supporters are seeing his clay feet and have the chance to decide if they still like him, without stars in their eyes.)
2. FREE airtime and print space for Democrats!
3. Republicans start ripping their hair out because they can't be certain who to aim the attack ads at and they'll risk blowing their $$ on the wrong ad campaign!
4. Democratic-leaning voters won't have enough time to get bored of our candidate.

2. Nope, brokered conventions aren't designed for the TV era |
|
We need the 3 hours of TV time to talk about the candidate's life story and such. We can't waste that time fighting over who our nominee will actually be.

3. gad. how can people be so wrong? |
|
no, all publicity is not good publicity. the real world is not DU. Repukes don't need to attack either of them or if they choose they can attack both, and they'll have the bucks to do it. Dem voters will have enough time to conclude that the process is fucked up and become completely sick of both of them.
Look, candidates that emerge from contentious conventions emerge mortally wounded. They lose. Nothing in your ridiculous opinion hews to what actually has happened when a dem contest goes to the primary. And Dean and the leaders of the party and the SDs know all this. That's why it's not going to the convention.
Oh, and most Obama supporters don't have stars in their eyes and never did. And most of us, in no way, blame Wright on Obama. Stupid hillbot "analysis" is invariably in error.

4. Do you really think that the GOP is in doubt? |
|
There are two out of three remaining sides in the race that have no doubt who will be the Democratic nominee.
The SDs will put Obama over the line around or after the Oregon election at the latest. At that point it would seem rather pointless to pretend that its something that needs to go to the convention.

(Limbaugh's too)
It's not going to happen. Not in this day and age of mass media messaging and image making. Remember, this isn't just about the White House, the DNC has to position all its candidates for congress to win in November as well. A floor fight isn't going to do anyone any good, except the Rethugs. We have to get together behind one candidate and present a united front against McCain as soon as possible.
