Poll question: If Rove dumps Cheney who do you think he would select to run with Chimp? |
|
I used to think it was inconceivable but I'm not so sure now. I think the GOP will do anything to win--and with Cheney being seen as a libability in the polls--Dick might "decide" to step aside for health reasons--as long as he can be Sec or State or something in the if Bush is re-selected.
If that happens who do you think Rove would pair up with the Chimp?
p.s. I put the name Elizabeth Dole on this becuz I heard one local radio political commentator say that if Cheney did leave the ticket she would be a perfect pick for Bush becuz she is, like Edwards, from North Carolina and also has served in two cabinet positions.

12. I thought that McCain said... |
|
That he didn't ever want to be "Vice President". I don't think he'd accept if offered. He doesn't seem to be the type who wants to play second fiddle.

2. I don't know if McCain would take the offer |

4. Yanking Cheney would be the ultimate flip-flop |
|
They only justification would be severe medical problems for Dick.

dangle the McCain carrot as V.P option. We all new it was a "toy" to mess with the repugs ....but it may backfire if McCain takes the bait.

6. Although Bush would love to have his brother on the ticket |
|
sort of a Double Bubba ticket, he's more likely to pick Giuliani as a way to balance the ticket geographically, try to eat into Democratic votes in a big state like NY, and provide him with somebody who can TALK. The things against Giuliani are his treatment of his wife (not a big deal to the family values crowd, admittedly) and his lack of experience at the national level, much more serious than Edwards's lack of experience.
McCain would love the job, though.
Dole would turn NC into less of a swing state.
I don't think there are too many other viable candidates. The party has become the party of thieves and religious lunatics, and it's starting to show rather badly.

If you recall McCain said a lot of things not to Bush liking. Will McCain come out and say he is sorry once more? How many times can you ask for forgiveness for ones sins and still feel people will trust you?

9. I am hoping that Rove won't be in a position to decide! |
|
With the Plame indictments on the horizon, is it possible Bush may have to go without his "brain" during the last crucial months of his campaign? Could we see Rove in handcuffs in a matter of weeks? That would sure look bad if Rove was one of those indicted and then they dumped Cheney.

McCain would not take veep. I would bet on it. The only way they would put Guiliani in is AFTER November. He is pro-choice and that would upset his big base, the religious right.

McCain is not liked by a lot of the Republicans, Giuliani is Moderate and pro choice. Giuliani also has lots of dirty laundry they can bring out. I think dumping Cheney would come across to most people as transparent and desperate.
