Regarding the unelectability thing... |
|
I find it somewhat amusing to hear supporters of Obama or Clinton refer to their opponent as "unelectable" because of insert_scandal_du_jour. By the criteria being used by many people here, Bill Clinton would have been unelectable, what with Gennifer Flowers, Whitewater, the questions about Rose law firm, etc, etc, etc. This is not to say that scandals don't have any impact on electability - they do. But they are not the ONLY factor.
The media would like you to think that they are the only factor, because scandals are very easy to cover and are every bit as useful in filling 24 hour cable news as missing pretty girls or the latest celebrity trial. The media likes to define candidacies strictly in terms of whatever the media is talking about at that point in time. Again, it's cheap, easy, and inflates their sense of self-importance.
I don't think any of the three main candidates for President this year are particularly unelectable. Ron Paul is unelectable. Dennis Kucinich is unelectable. John McCain, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama each have their own sets of problems to deal with, but none of them are unelectable.

1. Bill wouldn't be elected if he ran today against Perot and Bush (internet/YouTube) |

No way in hell Bubba wins in today's environment. HRC and Bill are some of the most tone-deaf politicians going when it comes to realizing that everything, and I do mean everything, that comes out of their mouths is easily researched and debunked by anybody with an internet connection.

I think part of his current problem is that he isn't running for office, so he feels comfortable giving us a very rich sample of the contents of his mind.
