Saw a LaRouche guy in the liquor store parking lot, getting signatures... |
|
Didn't think presidential candidates needed signatures here.
Well, apparently, in WI, committees for each party receiving at least 10% of the previous gubernatorial vote must forward the name of every "generally advocated or recognized in the national news media" for inclusion on the ballot, and can include other names at its discretion. All nine of the others made it onto the ballot here automatically (as did W. and two Libertarians, on their respective parties' ballots).
So, apparently, LaRouche is not "generally advocated or recognized" as anything, and must collect between 1,000 and 1,500 signatures in each congressional district by Tuesday to be on the Democratic ballot.
Poor LaRouche guy out there in the cold. He didn't seem to have any signatures. I almost took pity on him -- almost. I didn't want my name in the public record on a LaRouche petition.

1. I take no pity on them |

I passed one of their card tables one day and heard the LaRouche person explaining, "The Democratic party has no alternative."
Get lost, LaRouche.

2. Ah, the coveted liquor-store-parking-lot demographic |
|
Ya gotta play to your base, after all. I admire the pragmatism on display there.

3. I saw the same thing (LaRouche guy with petition) here in CT |
|
in front of a Stop and Shop in Norwich. I told the guy I had no interest in signing anything with his name on it especially after reading the book "Lyndon LaRouche and the New American Fascism". He proceeded to yell at me as I strolled towards my car that the book was all lies etc. I didnt feel bad for him at all.
