REV. WRIGHT IS A GOP PLANT!
Edited on Tue Apr-29-08 11:15 AM by BobbyVan
The timing of this stinks to high heaven, pardon the pun.

Cui bono? Pro-war Senators Hillary Clinton and John McCain.

Here's my theory, which has the benefit of explaining Rev. Wright's heretofore inexplicable actions.

Read this story. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/11/06/cbsnews_investigates/main3456977.shtml

A GOP Senate Committee has been investigating a number of preachers of the "prosperity gospel." Presumably, if anything illegal comes up, referrals will be made to the Department of Justice for prosecution.

Whose name is not on the list? That's right, Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Of course, he does not preach the "prosperity gospel" (he's a preacher of late 60's / 70's style black liberation theology), but Rev. Wright does live rather large. Read this about Rev. Wright and his million dollar mansion.

http://www.suntimes.com/business/867629,CST-NWS-wright29.article

Now, don't you think that if a Republican Senate Committee was going after preachers (many of those mentioned in the CBS article are social conservatives that play a big role in mobilizing the GOP base), it would also go after easy targets like Rev. Wright? Of course they would, unless they were using the committee to squeeze preachers in the black community.

Does it all make sense now? Rev. Wright is trying to destroy Obama as a peace offering to the Senate investigators and the Department of Justice.

Please, someone do some good shoe leather reporting and expose this story before Obama is destroyed by it.

A few days ago he was the Great Reverend Wright, now he needs to go away. His words were true and his heart was pure; funny how things change.

22. I agree with the caller I heard on Hartmann
that Wright wants Obama to lose so he (Wright) can continue to rant about how racist America is. Not that an Obaman win means there is no racism, but it would make it harder to claim the majority of the country is bigoted.

9. The two aren't mutually exclusive
"I'm his pastor, and I said to Barack Obama last year, if you get elected November 5, I'm coming after you." Sounds threatening to me.

23. IN CONTEXT
He has spent his career railing against the unresponsive government, and when Obama is elected he will BE that government - meaning, "I'm not pulling my punches against you just because you're my parishioner; I will hold you accountable".

Context is everything.

35. That was in a private conversation he had with Obama last November,
I believe it was. It was NOT part of any sermon when he said it, and Obama has never denied that conversation. He HAS said that he heard him say many provocative things over the years, but he was in Florida at the time of the "god damn america" sermon, and so did not hear THAT sermon.

For you to not know that after all this time can only be seen as willful ignorance - you are NOT looking at the facts, but only operating out of your own prejudice.

The bullshit is all yours.

and Obama has never denied knowing what Wright's world view is. And he has said, repeatedly, that he disagrees with some of it.

You strawman is a little soggy.

41. Racism?
Prejudice: 1) a judgment or opinion formed before the facts are known; preconceived idea, favorable or, more usually, unfavorable. 2a) a judgment or opinion held in disregard of facts that contradict it; unreasonable bias. b) the holding of such judgments or opinions.

Why do you assume racism?

..That Obama was a member of his church for 20 years. That's a long time to keep a GOP plan together. Even Darth Rove may not be capable of something like that.

15. Wright's media tour at this critical juncture of the campaign is what is suspicious
I don't believe he was a GOP stooge for his entire career. But now, I'd be looking long and hard at his associations... His actions are benefiting pro-war forces -- that is quite a departure from his previous rhetoric, and make you wonder whose bidding he is doing.

24. good grief.
rev wright is simply responding to all the sensational crap being stirred-up by the msm, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the gop.

i watched the entire naacp speech and the entire national press club speech, and if you listen very carefully, with an open mind, you see the man was preaching the truth from the african-american perspective/experience.

he's no gop plant. but the gop/msm uses distorted, out of context SOUND BITES to do what they do best: scare the hell out of uninformed americans.

the real problem, as usual, is not rev wright... is THE GOP-CONTROLLED MAINSTREAM MEDIA!

do you think any of this nonsense would be happening if we had cronkite, murrow, the fairness doctrine?

i wished that instead of wasting all this time and energy on issues that won't restore our world standing, our economy, our civil liberties, or reduce poverty and increase healthcare, end this fake war on terror... that we focus on the elaborate propaganda system we have in this country.

can't we spend our "rev wright time" helping moveon and democrats.org get more issue ads on tv to counter the endless msm nonsense and distraction? and maybe send a letter or two to the editor? turn friends and relatives on to honest, independent tv, like "linktv/democracy now!", "go left tv", etc.

"We have to fix the press: restore journalistic ethics in this country, and that is by bringing back the fairness doctrine and strengthening the FCC. The Fairness Doctrine was abolished by Ronald Reagan in 1988, and it recognized that the airwaves belong to the public; that the broadcasters can be licensed to use them to make a profit, but they use them with the proviso that their primary obligation is to advance democracy and promote the public interest. They have to inform the public because a democracy cannot survive an uninformed public."
