(pre-apology for another pointless Wright thread)
Most of us awake and start the day observing events around the world, with the help of newspapers or the television (and the aid of a pot of coffee). Daily we are touched by the inspirational and the harrowing. And lately, it seems more oft to be the later: war, death, ruin, starvation and failure.
But there is a dramatic change that is fundamental to our very society in the works. Perhaps it was last month we noticed an older African American man dominating the airwaves, uttering (what we are being told to be) dastardly statements regarding the United States and our policies. And it happened…
That is, as of yesterday, I was assured it had entirely happened…
No one died in Iraq. No ones house was foreclosed upon. No one died of an illness or starvation. Gas prices were not out of control. No one lost their job. The economy was not out of control…
How do I know this? The liberal media never misses an opportunity to wallow in the failures of our capitalistic society. And if the media isn’t waving a banner around of a young man’s death in Iraq or a school bombed there, it is clear that it didn’t happen. I can be assured that the only thing that happened yesterday was the Reverend Wright was a 'miserable failure' at imitating a New Englander’s accent (the horror).
So, in this early part of the new millennium, we can mark a historic shift in the human condition where man has truly pulled together to overcome all our ills. Our only problem: a single black man. Our only failure: a single black man. The only solution? We may discover that in the next year of constant coverage.
But we must thank the media, as well as the Clinton campaign (the McCain campaign and Clinton supporters are also to thank). Without them pushing Wright forth, we would not have the near Utopia we have today. We would not have the lack of crime or the lack of problems, reflected in the nightly news. Instead, now we only have a single man (who’s life may or may not be in shambles) that we can scapegoat any future problem upon.
So, clearly, anyone supporting Clinton who pushes this is nothing more than a saint in a turbulent time. They have caused a fundamental shift in our society, away from darkness, and towards the light. And what an effect might this shift have in November, when the virtual extension of an incumbent administration runs against a Democratic challenger (whoever that may be), challenging each other on who might be best to run this near Utopia.
What issues will we face? How we can make this perfect country more perfect? How we can punish Wright further? How will these people campaign against each other in an issue-less world, devoid of a bad economy, of a terrible war, of a rampant corporatism. How will this election play out, when the only problem being covered and exposed, is clearly and simply Reverend Wright? My money is probably on the defender, but in such a perfect world, what difference will it really make?
