1. I would suspect he has picked a fight with a rabid pit bull.
Lotsa luck.

6. That would be a crazy ass rabid uncle pit bull.
After this press conference the media will be following Wright around like love-struck puppy-dogs.

This story just became meat and potatoes.

2. He hammered the final nail in today about this issue
All thats left is for the MSM to come to grips with their loss of a weapon to use against him.

Now he is Obama's former pastor, that's all.

7. read this...
that was impressive

snip

...Maybe these racial and cultural divides can help us understand how better to move beyond them. Cynics may scoff - and certainly will. They will parse every nuance and try to paint Obama as another cynical, positioning pol. I don't believe it. He has more sincerity and integrity than the vast majority of politicians, more honesty, and more resilience in a very tough spot.

And today, we found that he can fight back, and take a stand, without calculation and in what is clearly a great amount of personal difficulty and political pain. It's what anyone should want in a president. It makes me want to see him succeed more than ever. It's why this country needs to see him succeed more than ever.

8. My guess is that Wright gets the house, Obama gets the kids...
but that neither have to pay alimony due to their respective book deals.

Chris Wallace Obama showed some guts today, and there is no question that he is a Muslim anymore.

31. Yeah, I know, and I figured if anyone was going to go on an attack it would be faux
But Chris (on a telephone from a hotel) said the people of NC and... will show how this is seen by them. So Chris left it up to the people. That's the best we could wish for. But I still turned off cable news once again just in case the attacks start in.

16. BRILLIANT!
BO-polar disorder: when suddenly things which just last week were unspeakably awful are now the BEST THING EVER, cause Obama said so. Like Ronald Reagan, and healthcare plans that leave people uninsured.

The media are going to follow big-mouth Wright everywhere he goes now.

This is just getting STARTED kiddo's!

27. Yesterday Rev. Wright came out
Edited on Tue Apr-29-08 02:10 PM by Life Long Dem
and said some things that angered Obama. It could be for money, it could be for attention, it could be he is star struck, it could be he is a bit loopy, it could be he is gay, but the thing is the pastor turned his attention onto to Obama, and Obama said that is enough.

29. are you new here?
Didn't you get the memo? Why, I heard (on the 'Race to the White House' program with Rachael Maddow) on AAR on Saturday night that Jay Rockefeller said that there's no money in fiscal '09 for health care, and that if a new President can't get it approved in the first year, he/she will not be successful during the rest of the term. As such, health care is dead, and a vote for Hillary is just a wasted vote. So there (sarcasm).

14. Actually, I was kind of wondering if this has been the plan for a while.
I was thinking Wright made it easier for Obama to distance himself, wwhether or not they planned it together... it could have been Wright understanding that Obama needed to do it, so he basically served himself up on a platter by making more statements.

15. Obama will be fine.
This is really a non-issue. How could Obama be judged by the views of his pastor? Yes, it seems like they've had a friendly relationship for years. But people can change. I think Wright is just now trying to take advantage of his new found fame in the public eye. But Wright's 15 minutes are almost up.

24. Obama needs to now get on the phone and tell Wright to keep his hole shut.
On this issue. If Wright really is wanting Obama to win this, he should see where Obama is coing from.

26. NOW it Might Actually Work in Obama's Favor --
As long as he was trying to explain Wright's position to others (as admirable as that was), he was associating himself with Wright's point of view by defending it. Now that he's put that behind him, any future exchanges with Wright through the media can form an extended "Sistah Souljah" moment and actually separate Obama from the worldview that was giving voters difficulty.

Wright's irresponsibility made this absolutely necessary, and I think Obama took exactly the right tone. I just hope it works.

30. These predictions aren't worth much; I think people have made up their minds either way
Remember how glad we were when he "put it away" during the race speech? I will have to wait till tonight to hear what he said about Wright, but I won't hold my breath about MSM spin, and general voter apathy. Especially since some of the things Wright said were head on, but he strayed way too far on some subjects and tripped himself up.
