Obama says he's outraged by Rev. Wright's comments.
http://www.cnn.com/POLITICS/

"The person I saw yesterday was not the person that I met 20 years ago," Obama says of his former pastor. "His comments were not only divisive and destructive, but I believe that they end up giving comfort to those who prey on hate ... if Rev. Wright thinks that that's political posturing, as he put it, then he doesn't know me very well. And based on his remarks yesterday, well I might not know him as well as I thought, either."

oh snap! it starts!

5. I agree, he didn't want to have to do that, but Wright forced his hand.
Of course the media will tear him down further for this, and then, let's not forget about Ayres! :sarcasm:

8. He now realized that Wright was not particularly looking out for him
He did not want to denounce Wright, but it has become painfully obvious that Wright was going to use his pulpit to keep this "story" in the news. Why, I do not know, but it is clear that Obama had to distance himself further from anything Wright may say in the future that would be tied to Obama by association, as the media has been wont to do with him.

4. What is his base?
You mean AA's? They are going to leave him en masse? There is more to his base than just the AA's, and I'd be awfully surprised if they ran to Hillary or McCain because of this. You can hope, though, right?

11. Nonsense
Who are people going to want to align themselves to, a black preacher who says that America hates you and you will never get a fair shake, or the man who will be the next president of the United States?

Easy choice. Americans go with winners.

It's no surprise to see people like Wright try to sabotage Obama. If a black man becomes president it will undermine all the points he's been making from the pulpit for the last 3 decades.

15. True
But they aren't going to align themselves with Hillary or McCain either. Obama is a winner and Americans go with winners.
