I've been a member since 2004 but don't post much. I agree that there are alot of idiots on the boards these days but the fact is that in order to get to 1000 posts, you've got to start at the bottom.

A = 1/n * f

Where A = the absurdity level of an OP, n = the number of posts of the poster (so 1/n becomes larger, the fewer the posts), and f = the flame factor of the topic.

We seem to have a high A number today.
