9. Why would they need to cancel the celebration? |
|
They'll find a way to spin this into an endorsement of Clinton somehow. Only members of the reality-based community would let mere facts inconvenience them like that.

she DID endorse Clinton's health-care plan, and that's her key issue.

12. Major blow to Hillary |
|
since Elizabeth Edwards has already endorsed Hillary's health care plan. One has to wonder what is keeping her from just endorsing Hillary since she has endorsed Hillary's plan on what is probably her #1 issue. I think it gets back to her op-ed piece entitled, "Bowling: 1, Healthcare: 0." Endorsements are almost like additional distractions in this primary now. Think about it. Everybody reads the headline when a superdelegate endorses Hillary or Obama, but far fewer people read the REASON why they endorse them. Treating the endorsement as the most important thing and the reasons behind the endorsement as just extra fluff.

She was asked directly if she thought that her, her husband and Al Gore speaking out to endorse one or the other of the candidates would help end the "bloodletting" on both sides and prevent the party from tearing itself apart.
She answered that they are chosing not endorse (at least before next week's Primaries) because their endorsements wouldn't make an appreciable difference either way.
There are a few ways of interpreting that answer.
1) The party isn't tearing itself apart, everything is going to be okay.
2) Both sides are so entrenched in their opinions and invested in supporting their candidate, that their endorsements wouldn't have much of an impact.
3) They don't want to take responsibility or take the heat for pushing the selection of a nominee that may not be the same as the voter's have chosen.
4) They don't want to end up backing the wrong side.
5) They want the eventual winner to win the nomination on their own, then they will step in an show support in the General Election.
Any more ideas to add to this list?
