Barack Obama is proposing a genuine, tax cut for the middle class, to meet their cost. Middle cass inclusive of working class. If the gas tax is removed, it only can be taken from wages to make up for the loss of income to the government or increase in property tax even. Let alone when it is taken off the oil price will rise with more demand. Better to have more money in the pocket than a discount voucher really, that is his position.

1. The gas tax holiday is a joke. |
|
I really wish Obama would expose it for the pathetic cop-out that it is.

6. this is a faulty argument |
|
1. demand has not really changed even with the increases in the price, so there is unlikely to be a huge increase in demand because the price goes down 18 cents.
2. the difference in price will make very little direct difference to the average consumer... but it makes a HUGE difference to trucking companies and their operating expenses, which then filters to prices for food, clothes, furniture and just about every other consumer item... where it does make a difference in the aggregate.
