"Count Florida's Votes" Says National Organization for Women Political Action Committee (NOW PAC)
I post this for information only, as I don't agree with them. Just happened to receive it in the email.

April 29, 2008

The National Organization for Women Political Action Committee (NOW PAC) joins our national and Florida allies in calling on the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to count their votes now.

"We live in a nation where our young women and men have been sent to Iraq to fight for democracy, while here at home 1.7 million voters in Florida are disenfranchised," said NOW PAC Chair Kim Gandy. "Where is the fairness in this process? Despite much misinformation in the media, Florida Democrats did not choose to move their primary earlier – the Republican-majority legislature did that, and they did it over the active opposition of the Florida Democratic Party. The Republicans knew exactly what they were doing. They were trying to damage Florida Democrats, trying to strip them of their rightful delegates, and the DNC should not help their scheme succeed."

"National Organization for Women Political Action Committee and allies, in solidarity with LULAC, Florida Voters League, University of Central Florida, Florida Demands Representation, Southern Leadership Coalition and local Florida civil rights leaders."

2. The cynical side of me can't help but wonder if they'd be doing the same thing if
Obama had more Florida votes.

Unfortunately for them, their candidate ran under DNC rules. And agreed to them:

The following is a statement by Clinton Campaign Manager Patti Solis Doyle.

"We believe Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina play a unique and special role in the nominating process.

And we believe the DNC’s rules and its calendar provide the necessary structure to respect and honor that role.

Thus, we will be signing the pledge to adhere to the DNC approved nominating calendar."

6. someone tell them the votes were counted - for the beauty contest
This is about delegates, and the vote, such as it was, does not count toward delegates.

It's a simple concept, which the simple cannot seem to fathom.

Florida broke the rules..as did Michigan.

<snip>

Paul Kirk(SuperDelegate) from MA

"One "price" being considered for Florida and Michigan, both having ignored party rules on the timing of their primaries, is to nevertheless count their votes at what could be a determinative moment late in the calendar. But every candidate knew that neither state held a valid election, so no candidate should be able to claim an advantage from it.

It is equally untenable for our party to convene in Denver without Florida or Michigan being represented. But the answer is not to award them a do-over after they violated the rules. The fairest solution is to divide their delegations equally between the two candidates. The campaigns can work with the state parties to assure appropriate demographic representation.

<snip>

"We have rules. Everyone understood them at the outset. This is not a national primary; it is not a red-vs.-blue, caucus-vs.-primary or big state-vs.-small state competition. It's a state-by-state contest (some primary, some caucus, some big, some small) by which delegates are selected in proportional representation to the popular vote in each state.

Once the contests are over, do the math. By mid-June, we must unite behind the candidate who has won the most delegates under a process we all understood and approved in advance. After eight years of Bush-Cheney, if we cannot unite our constituencies behind the Democratic nominee, shame on us!"

You mean national ad buy on Cable networks that happen to play in Florida as well as 49 other states. Lets be honest on it. He wasn't advertising on the local news broadcast which is where you broadcast when your running actively in state.
