There are rumors that Edwards is holding out for a cabinet post...
Assuming it's true, then what do you think he wants and what do you think he would be best for?

Wants: State
Best for: Justice

or even a seat on the US Supreme Court.

26. No to the Supreme Court
The last thing I would want on the bench is a politician. Edwards would be the worst possible choice for the Supreme Court. Why do people have this delusion that a lawyer with absolutely no judicial experience belongs in the highest court of the land? Based on his campaign rhetoric, wouldn't be be better suited as Secretary of Labor or Health and Human Services, though I'm not sure if he would be good in either of these positions.

He's far more qualified for it.

6. It serves him nothing
to endorse either. He's got a political future in the party and there is no reason for him to piss of 50% of it by picking sides till their is a nominee.

23. a lot of people say Attorney General...but I heard once
that he doesn't have the right kind of law experience to be AG. I have know idea if that is true or where I heard it...probably on DU. If he does have the proper kind of experience to handle the job...I think he'd make a great AG. However, I'd personally like him to be charge of Health and Human Services and take on Universal Health Care. Who could be better for that job? There are lots of good lawyers out there but how many feel so passionately about HC? Edwards gets my vote. Frankly I'd like him for any position...he has liberal passion and I really love Elizabeth.

I'd let him run the carpet cleaning crew at the White House and not much beyond that.

15. I think Elizabeth Edwards was 100% sincere when she said
that they did not believe they could alter anything with an endorsement at this time.

They're holding out to endorse the nominee. Plain and simple.

Any other speculation about the Edwards being insincere does not square with my experience of them. They are beautiful people. They are not making back room deals, only pushing forth their agenda for a hearing from both candidates, as is right and proper.

24. I suspect that it's more likely he's aware that he isn't popular in his home state.
Polling fairly recently showed that an Edwards endorsement of Clinton would result in a net LOSS of support for her in the NC primary, not a gain. (31% of respondents to a poll in NC said an Edwards endorsement would make them LESS likely to vote for HRC.)

28. If Edwards were to take a cabinet position, it would be Attorney General.
There's really only four top tier cabinet positions (State, Treasury, Defense, and Justice) and Edwards likely wouldn't accept anything below this top tier - Attorney General is easily the best fit for him out of the four top cabinet posts.

not important. That shipped already sailed.
