She is in in trouble if she gets the nomination. Her popularity with the black community is closing in on Bush territory. She needs to get to work and now! If she doesn't and she ends up with the nomination I am telling you....to say hello John McCain. There aren't too many blacks that will vote for McCain but they will vote for Nader or stay home.

Clinton Leads McCain by 9 Points Nationwide, AP Poll Shows

By Julianna Goldman

April 28 (Bloomberg) -- Hillary Clinton does better than Democratic presidential rival Barack Obama when matched against Republican John McCain, according to the latest Associated Press- Ipsos poll.

Clinton leads McCain 50 percent to 41 percent while Obama is ahead 46 percent to 44 percent, within the margin of error, according to the poll taken after Clinton's Pennsylvania primary victory.

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/04/19/921546.aspx

From NBC’s Domenico Montanaro
Hillary Clinton has regained the national lead, 46%-45%, over Obama, according to the Gallup Tracking poll. Clinton had been down by 11 points less than a week ago. This is the first time Clinton has led in the poll since March 20.

The general-election match up has seen no change. Clinton leads McCain 46%-44%, and Obama leads McCain 45%-44%.

They also feel like Hillary has been using race to smear Obama and divide the election down racial lines because she felt like she had to do whatever it took to stay in this race.

3. Not really...
...seeing as her getting the nomination is only slightly more likely than me spontaneously combusting on my way to my car as I leave work today.

But if we were in the hypothetical reality where she was somehow heading for the nomination, then yes, she'd be screwed. Her conduct during this campaign hasn't exactly been endearing her to people, to put it mildly.

assertion that Hillary is persona non-gratis to the AA community?

I promise you, the majority of the AA community will rally behind Hillary if she is the nominee. The Clintons are still very popular with AA community - it's just that Sen. Obama is just a bit more popular right now!

All African-Americans are not buying into "The Clintons are racists!" meme that the MSM has been repeating since the SC Primary.

Believe it or not, some African-Americans have actually been listening to what has been said, not just the sound bites played on the news shows and while most of us support Sen. Obama, we won't have any issues with pulling the lever for Sen. Clinton in November if she's the candidate.

Anybody who tells you that the Clintons are finished with the AA community is talking out of their ass!

120. And that's the problem ....just assume black folk will fall in line no matter how you treat them..
Blue collar, working class black voters are automatically Clinton's, yet if Obama is the nominee, the black man must work hard and convince the blue collar, working class white voters to vote for him.

Black folk will fall in line.
White folk get to pick and choose.

After while, people get tired of being taken for granted.

Perhaps here is where a stand should be taken.
Hopefully the time has arrived when the African American community will send a message to democratic party, and say don't take our vote for granted.

13. If this campaign has demonstrated anything, planning ahead is not Clinton's forte.
She had no plan for what to do after Super Tuesday if she failed to secure the nomination then, and she has no plan for how to win the general election if she becomes the nominee by destroying Barack Obama. It's really astonishing. If (somehow) her Rovian tactics work, what really does she think African Americans are going to do? For that matter, what does she think young people and liberals are going to do?

59.  That's a small beehive. I didn't say AA hate0 Hillary..but if you think there's no damage done,
you're being naive. If you think the black community will vote for her in droves, if Obama is plowed under and this thing stolen from him, you are living in La La Land and many are upset with her and Bill and her campaign.

I can tell you from my travels and discussion with other black people (not just 8 of them and their hubbies), but in sorority circles, political groups, community center associations and other affiliations; black message boards, black radio, black internet groups..the consensus is..Hillary is damaged goods, Bill's stature in the black community has diminished and they have done great harm to their relationship with African-Americans.

I know many may not like it, but those are the facts from the various "black" places I delve on a regular basis.

you come in contact with that the next President will get to nominate at least 2 Supreme Court Justices.

And a repuke President might nominate people who believe that AAs should be considered only worth 2/5 of White person again.

Or that children born in the US to undocumented Spanish-speaking parents should be striped of the citizenship.

I know that we as AAs can see the big picture!

after Bill's comments, after Sheehan comments, after Johnsons' comments, after Ferraro comments, after her "as far as I know comments," after her trying to tie him to Louis Farrakhan doing the debates. After piling on at the ABC debate...you are kidding yourself..there's great damage.

I'm black, I travel in quite a many of black circles; sorority, community association, message boards and other political groups..and I'm here to tell you she and Bill have hurt themselves MASSIVELY..in the black community. Why do you think Clyburn is speaking out?

stolen or has any kind of funk on it..all bets are off.

Hey could you answer a question for me, nobody seems to be able to do so thus far.

Why is it that people automatically assume Hillary will get the black blue collar working class vote, and Obama can't get the white working class blue collar voter without heavy courting. Some say he'll never get it, but the same stock of voters which happens to be black is a lock for Hillary. What makes people think Hillary and her surrogates comments have any less impact on voters than Baracks' bitter comments?

Is it because they think blacks have nowhere else to go, and will vote for the Dem. nominee, no matter what? If so, that's fubar and a change certainly needs to come...

Maybe you can offer me an answer..thanks

38. Why would a DUer fall for that RW misinformation?
"During the March 17 edition of CNN's The Situation Room, national news correspondent Jeanne Moos conducted a "quiz" of people on the street and asserted that Sen. Hillary Clinton "got the answer right when 60 Minutes asked, you don't believe Barack Obama is a Muslim?" But Moos went on to misrepresent Clinton's response by broadcasting only a portion of Clinton's response to correspondent Steve Kroft's questions during the March 2 edition of CBS' 60 Minutes. Moos aired only one comment Clinton made in which she said: "No, there is nothing to base that on, as far as I know." Moos then showed a video clip in which Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan emphasized the latter portion of Clinton's response: "Oh, as far as I know." In fact, as Media Matters for America has repeatedly documented as a result of similar distortions by the media, Clinton's first three words in response to Kroft's initial question -- "You don't believe that Senator Obama is a Muslim?" -- was, "Of course not." Moreover, Clinton made clear that she equated the false rumor that Obama is a Muslim with "ridiculous rumors" that have circulated about her.

From the March 2 edition of CBS' 60 Minutes:

KROFT: You don't believe that Senator Obama is a Muslim?

CLINTON: Of course not. I mean, that's -- you know, there is no basis for that. You know, I take him on the basis of what he says. And, you know, there isn't any reason to doubt that.

KROFT: And you said you'd take Senator Obama at his word that he's not a Muslim.

CLINTON: Right. Right.

KROFT: You don't believe that he's a Muslim --

CLINTON: No. No. Why would I? There's no --

KROFT: -- or implying, right?

CLINTON: No, there is nothing to base that on, as far as I know.

KROFT: It's just scurrilous --

CLINTON: Look, I have been the target of so many ridiculous rumors. I have a great deal of sympathy for anybody who gets, you know, smeared with the kind of rumors that go on all the time."

76. Hillary doesn't respect the black vote
so they'll stay at home or write-in somebody else. Hillary's superdelegate argument of 'big states' is a euphemistic way of saying that the white, working class voter is more important than the black voter. This argument even though the white, working class vote is hardly a bedrock of the Democratic Party, whereas the black vote is. Lack of respect = single digits for the black vote.

Also, want to thank Bill Clinton. I'm a black man in my 20s, and didn't know that Jesse Jackson had won the SC Dem Primary twice in the 80s. That is, until Bill was happy to educate me. Thanks Bill! :eyes:

only the other way around.. ...it should be a question that goes both ways..yet no one ever poses it. It's like its automatic that she will get that vote, but Obama won't get the working class/blue collar white voters, or he must worker hard than she does to get it and for her the that particular black vote is a cake walk.

I agree. I think that most blacks are sick and tired of hearing about how their vote isn't as important as the white, working class vote. The implication seems to always be that all the blacks will readily vote for Hillary if Obama drops out, because they're just voting for Obama because of his race.

81. Exactly. It's as if we will fall in line. I also asked a poster that feels this way further up in
this thread to answer the question, we will see what kind of response I get.

Also, I asked the question: What makes people think people are any less perturbed and offended by Clinton and her surrogatess' comments, as many are and were offended and perturbed by Obama's bitter comments. Plenty has come out of camp that has offended AA. Yet, we should just fall in line, and ignore it all and feel nothing because we have no where else to go.

It's a serious discussion within my circles...

93. Hillary is a wonderful person who respects everyone. If Barack was such a great guy
then he wouldn't be so disrespectful towards her. She has treated him with respect and kindness and he has repaid her by treating her like dirt.

It's funny how we didn't know that Hillary was a racist until Barack came along. We also didn't know what a terrible person she is until Barack made that the central message of his campaign. Statistically speaking, it seems more plausible that Sen. Obama is just a jerk.

I don't know who will vote for Hillary and who will stay home. I only know that she has a better chance of winning then Obama, because too many Democrats are turned off by his hateful campaign of personal destruction.
