What they're learning from me is that single urban 38-year-old half-white/half-Latina women in the 10K - 30K income range who own laptop computers but not cars watch a fuckload of Doctor Who and Battlestar Galactica and LOST, and get hot pants for Keith Olbermann and Stephen Colbert. The History-International Channel and the Discovery Channel and Science Channel and Animal Planet go over big with "our" demographic too.
OH, and the very second McCain or * start talking we can't change the channel fast enough. To ANYTHING. But the very second Obama's on doing *anything* we can't lock on and stay there fast enough.

Once Obama took the lead, HRC should have felt obligated to run a strictly positive primary campaign and only attack McCain.
Why can't you guys accept that she's hurt the party by attacking the frontrunner?

77. Well, the Republicans are desperate and will fight the dirtiest |
|
campaign we have ever seen ... including that in 2000. So brace yourself.
As far as saying Obama cannot win against McCain, I COULD WRITE A WINNING STRATEGY FOR THAT TONIGHT, AND THAT'S NOT MY FORTE.
Wait until the voting public gets a good listen of McCain saying he wants to privatize Social Security. I am sure the State of Florida seniors will reconsider their Republican preferences when they consider that. Privatization of Social Security about 5 years ago was estimated to cost about 3 trillion dollars. Regardless of what you see or read ANY PLACE, that administrative overhead for the move to privatize will result in a cut in benefits to existing retired people. Count on that. And of course no one will accuse him of caving to the Wall Street crowd, who for the last few decades have been clamoring for that money to gamble on the stock market ... Ken Lay gastrointestinal regurgitation, anyone?
Wait until the torture flipflop is made into a video. I personally can't wait ... I get excited just trying to imagine it.
And another thing, years ago was he not "pro choice" and that was why some liberals actually liked him? Isn't he now a right-to-lifer ... didn't I recently hear that?
Exactly how does one perceive exactly where McCain stands (or falls) on these issues - he moves left to right to quickly these days ... wasn't there a Presidential candidate recently who the Swiftboaters labeled a "flip flopper" that narrowly failed to win the Oval Office for four years - because he was unmercifully damaged with that label? If so, can't we too use that? I THINK SO!
And what exactly was that he said about most Americans being better off today than they were four years ago -- has anyone told him the dollar has lost 40% of its value IN THE LAST TWO YEARS?
And why is it again he can't keep his Sunni straight without Lieberman whispering in his ear? Early memory loss setting in (and I phrase it that way to be kind ...)
But here's the GE killer for McCain (regardless of who he runs against) - he condones a war with Iran. So how many children are YOU prepared to sacrifice for the Bush*/McCain war on terror? And if the answer is none, how many will you allowed to be maimed or psychologically ruined for life by serving in the Bush*/McCain preemptive wars? Can you recover if your child simply takes his or her own life (as opposed to being taken from this earth by the terrorists)?
I could go on and on the rest of the night. Any average politician can take McCain out in the GE once the campaign truly starts. Oh, but wait, let's talk about his religious advisers now and get the fun started ... what was that Agee said about the people of New Orleans and Katrina again, could you remind me ....
PS Where is that picture of him hugging and hanging off George Bush*s neck BTW ....

33. I interpret the week's events differently. HClinton is the one who has |
|
lost ground.
Her husband was often referenced as "our first black president," suggesting his ease with Afro American citizens.
I think that went down the toilet the week before South Carolina.
In overwhelming numbers, Afro American citizens are supporting Senator Obama. After Bubba's clumsy remarks in SC, it's easy to see why.
Obama also is winning among young folks, young career professionals, folks generally under 40 or so, the well educated, and throw in many independents into the mix as well.
None of the people who have comprised his majority in winning states give one damn about Rev. Wright. They aren't voting for a pastor. They're voting for a future, and Mrs. Clinton no longer lays claim to representing that future.
She has lost the nomination.

|
to a lot of super delegates and none of them feel that Obama's baggage "is any heavier than Clinton's". But they've all seen how Clinton handles baggage, and were waiting to see how well Obama did the same.
The vast majority of pundits I saw last night on CNN and MSNBC thought Obama handled the Wright issue pretty darn well.
And as a witty DU'er said in a previous post, when you're honest about baggage, Obama has a carryon and Hillary has a U-Haul.

69. Obama can still win in Nov |
|
Either of our candidates would get crucified by the media, so we need to find ways around them and get the real message out about whoever our nominee is. Obama's campaign certainly isn't finished, and I think he would give McCain, the republican establishment, the media and the 527s just waiting to pounce a bigger fight than they expect.
Unlike many on DU, I don't think Nov is a lock for either of our candidates, but I think we have a better than average chance.

80. Wrong. Obama absolutely can still win the general election |
|
It's simply wishful thinking on the part of hillary supporters to make such a claim. And if he wins the nomination, he'll have demonstrated that he has what it takes to deal effectively with incoming.

83. MCCAIN can't win the GE |
|
Edited on Thu May-01-08 05:56 AM by livingmadness
Heck, even the repugs know that. Which is why both our candidates are desperate for the nomination. Sheesh, the latest polls show that the voting public are more concerned about McCain-Bush than Obama-Wright. And the economy/war is going to get considerably worse between now and November, sadly. The GE is a given IMO, and as much as I'm not a fan of Hillary's, that's true for both of them.
