Wright has lost it
Edited on Wed Apr-30-08 05:58 AM by LuckyTheDog
Rev. Wright's behavior at the National Press Club seems to confirm my suspicions: Wright has been "losing it" for the past several years. And that is more than likely why the congregation pushed him out. Obama cannot and should not be held accountable for the guy's apparent (and sad) mental and emotional decline.

Had Obama not been in the Senate for the past 3 years, perhaps he would have been more actively involved nudging Wright out of the church. But it seems entirely credible to me that Obama had no idea how far off the deep end Wright had dived. When you are not involved with a congregation from week to week, it's hard to know everything that is happening.

Wright needs to be ignored and left alone, except by the family and friends who should be helping him become more grounded.

1. Interesting take.
I doubt anyone will buy that, even if it is true.

I think most people would look it the same way, unless they have an axe to grind.

5. I think he meant what he said, and he was pretty well-versed about it.
I don't think someone who is losing their mind is going to be that specific about their scripture or their facts. That said, I happen to agree with most everything Wright said. It's totally embarrassing for Obama, though.

11. Wait a second
Do you REALLY believe that Louis Farrakhan speaks for the black community and that the whole black community hangs on every word he says? I don't think any rational observer would say such a thing. And let's not even get into the "government created AIDS" nonsense.

15. I believe that there is a significant subset of the black community that values Farrakhan's pov.
As far as the AIDS thing, what Reverend Wright said was that after the Tuskegee experiment that went on for forty years, he couldn't discount it. But it's not just that as far as I'm concerned, because the CIA fed unknowing people LSD, flooded the market with crack, and experimented with manchurian candidate-style mind-control. With all that in mind, the AIDS thing isn't a huge leap, but all of the things before it are much more reliably documented.

22. That's exactly right.
There was an HBO documentary called "BASTARDS OF THE PARTY" about the beginning of the Crips and Bloods - how right after the assassination of two of the Panthers in south central LA two factions of the panthers split up and then started war for territory because the streets were flooded with coke, then freebase and then crack
linked to the CIA and then the Iran Contra smugglers....

Don't laugh...I bought drugs off CIA operatives in Vietnam....They funded extensive operations into Laos with the Thai stick....

What exactly makes you think he's "lost it"? His answers were right on the money. Or were you just not enjoying his frivolity with his friends in between questions?

10. The military did go to congress to ask for funding for race-specific diseases
to use as weapons. AIDS was probably for blacks. Maybe they did SARS for the Chinese. Still working out the kinks, of course. Perfectly plausible. What makes you think the government WOULDN'T invent AIDS?

18. If not invented, how about exploited? We need to get the Africans out of Africa.
They're clogging up the natural resources we want. Thus the Africa command is established. Don't worry, the NWO has all the time in the world.

It's time to stop being so naive and thinking 'the gov't wouldn't invent AIDs, the gov't wouldn't torture, the gov't wouldn't trade drugs for arms, and arms for hostages,, the gov't wouldn't plot to assassinate other world leaders, the gov't wouldn't "

Seriously. We don't have a sovereign nation. It is NOT run 'by the people' or even 'for the people'

30. My apologies.
I only saw his answer in the Q&A session, where he said they were capable. You can't say for certain they did it as he says there. You can't prove it. It is a foolish statement.

Many progressives, especially AA, share his understanding of life and times in America.

SEPARATE BUT EQUAL. Think about it. Left-white-brain/right-black-brain ruminations take you down that road.

Here is what Jeremiah Wright has to say about liberals...

Our hope is not built on faith-based dollars, empty liberal
promises
or veiled hate-filled preachments of the so-called
conservatives. Our hope is built on Him who came in the
flesh to set us free.

34. The "Second Coming"?
Jeez...the guy is a frigging human being. He didn't put himself in the spotlight. The man was disemboweled gleefully by the media...and others..24/7 for 3 weeks running, with selected excerpts from a sermon. The recent media circus that followed, whether he inadvertently or intentionally created it, is a shame. The entire farce is a disgrace. Too bad Obama's preacher wasn't Pat Robertson.

27. That would account for a lot of things. I don't see it myself but
I did notice that he seemed much more at ease in the venues he's probably used to - speaking on his own or sitting across from someone and having a conversation. He seemed visibly less at ease and even somewhat defensive during the Q&A with that smirky moderator at the Press Club.

that Wright of 2008 is fundamentally different from the Wright of 10, 15, 20 years ago?

This seems like a rather distasteful attempt to gaslight Wright.
