|
There were plenty here who defended Wright, probably until Obama gave him the gate this is certainly not an anti Obama piece http://www.observer.com/2008/blame-wright-s-enablersbill from ct

1. Rev. Wright snatched defeat from the jaws of victory with his press club speech. |
|
IMHO, he'd redeemed himself with the Bill Moyers interview.
If he had then shut-up, I for one would probably still be defending him.
That press club speech was WAY over the top.

2. If one is a Roman Catholic or Sunni and attends the same church and mosque for 20 years, others |
|
have considerable justification for believing that person accepts the teachings of that religious group.
I seen no difference with the Trinity United Church of Christ.
For someone like that to deny accepting the Roman Catholic or Sunni or Trinity teachings calls into question why that person falsely appeared to practice that religion for 20 years.
It is difficult for me to believe someone brilliant enough to graduate from Harvard's law school could be fooled for 20 years.

3. I still defend Wright, regardless of what Obama does. |
|
And I am a Clinton supporter.
Wright is about 95% right in what he says. A few things are over the top, but very few. This is mostly a media-manufactured crisis that isn't one.

but Wright hasn't been standing on Hillary's neck
Obama waited too long for his latest take on his pastor
he knew him very well and should have known better

7. This will pass. I don't think Obama waited too long. |
|
Obama was responding to what Wright said on Monday, on Tuesday.

Then maybe you can tell me why Obama scrubbed him from his event after being blessed in private.
Even us Hillary supporters know Obama is not stupid
He knew all along much more about this guy than the public knows now
Is his judgment that bad?, or maybe he was afraid, or maybe this latest dust up was premeditated

11. The truth is that Wright is not that bad. |
|
and things that can be said within the black community and heard in perspective there don't travel well in the white world that doesn't understand it.
This is all about a culture gap that Obama doesn't have, but most whites do.

8. Me too - an I'm an Obama supporter- although I also believe Wright went overboard on ego |
|
and was insensitive to how his actions would effect Obama's campaign- and for that I am not supportive. Obama refused to throw Wright under the bus initially in spite of the first wave of concerns eminating from the famous "Damn America" soundbite-- but this time, Wright went too far.
With that said however, after listening carefully to his words, I can certainly understand why Obama was drawn to him- Wright is a brilliant and insightful man and has a lot to offer the world and yes- the media was a major factor in this drama.
When are they going to start playing soundbites of Hagee by the way? Oh yes - I forgot-- they don't like to do bad things to McShame-- he's their guy...

5. I can't figure out what defenders of Jeremiah Wright want. |
|
On one hand, Wright's defenders think that everything he says is brilliant. On the other hand, they agonize over the fact that he is in the news. Who can figure this shit out?

6. Rev. Wright. threw Obama under the bus Monday. |
|
Until Wright went off the deep end who knew? God damn or God bless America was defended because Obama said he never heard those snippets in church. So I have no idea where you come from with this BS.

Do you actually believe Obama knew nothing of the powerful remarks made by his pastor of 20 yrs?
That defies logic, even if he didn't hear all of them, I'm sure he heard about them. That is the nature of a community.

12. The remarks are wildly exaggerated, and you know it. |
|
They are mostly controversial because they were taken out of context.
That is all. This has been shown many times on this board.

the context made them more damaging
you and I may agree that many of Wright's remarks were undeniable, but now that the press has forced Obama to divorce himself from Wright they will be happy
but if you remember in his earlier "wonderful" speech in Philly he said he could never divorce himself from the pastor
is he now divorcing himself from the black community, those were Obama's words in Philly
the repubs are not done with this
