Following is a script for "Dreams."

Hillary Clinton: My father served in the Navy and ran a small business. My mother taught Sunday school and took care of us. I come from Park Ridge, Illinois benefiting from all their hard work and sacrifice.

I carry with me not just their dreams but the dreams of people like them all across our country, people who embrace hard work and opportunity who never waiver in the face of adversity, who never stop believing in the promise of America.

It's a promise I intend to keep.

Hillary Clinton picks up another Pa. superdelegate

by BRETT LIEBERMAN, Of The Patriot-News
Wednesday April 30, 2008, 9:14 AM

Bill George, president of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO, is announcing his support for Hillary Rodham Clinton's bid for the Democratic nomination for president.

Hillary Rodham Clinton will pick up the support of another influential superdelegate this morning when Bill George declares his support for the senator from New York.

George, the president of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO, had been one of six remaining undeclared Pennsylvania superdelegates.

The remaining five are all Democratic members of Congress -- U.S. Reps. Tim Holden, Chris Carney, Jason Altmire, Mike Doyle and Bob Brady.

On Tuesday, Clinton picked up the support of another superdelegate, Mike Easley, the governor of North Carolina, which holds its primary on Tuesday,

With George's support, Clinton extends her lead over fellow Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama to 16-5 among Pennsylvania superdelegates.

Superdelegates are the roughly 800 Democratic party leaders and elected officials who will vote along with elected delegates for a nominee. Unlike the elected delegates who run pledged for a specific candidate, superdelegates are free to vote for any candidate.

With neither Clinton nor Obama able to win enough delegate votes in the remaining nine primary and caucus contests to clinch the nomination, coveted superdelegates hold the key to deciding the nomination………

And yesterday she got 2 SD’s :

5,000 Oregonians, Five Hosts, the Register-Guard, One Candidate, All Asking: Where's Our Debate?

PORTLAND, OR – In just five days, more than 5,000 Oregonians have signed an on-line petition at www.debateoregon.com urging Sen. Barack Obama to join Hillary Clinton in Oregon for two presidential primary debates. Five respected organizations have offered to host an event. And today, the Register-Guard, which earlier endorsed Obama for President, said that "One or more Oregon debates between the two Democratic contenders would be useful to voters in Oregon, the West and throughout the nation."

"Senator Obama is currently spending millions on television ads across our state. Certainly he can spare a day or two to let Oregonians know what he believes beyond his 30-second ads. Just like the Oregon Voters Pamphlet, debates are a wise and time-honored tradition of Oregon's democracy. We have sponsors and we have Oregon support--the only roadblock to historic Oregon debates is Senator Obama."

Last week, Hillary Clinton released the Oregon Compact, an 11-point detailed policy proposal designed to address a number of the specific Federal issues facing Oregon. (Details on the Compact can be found at www.oregoncompact.com) .

Hillary simultaneously invited Obama to join her in Oregon for two debates – one focused on rural issues.

Media, political, government and academic institutions around the state and nationally have already offered to host the event, including:

* Willamette University in Salem;
* KGW-TV (NBC) in Portland;
* KOBI-TV (NBC) in Medford;
* PBS/NOVA and the American Association for the Advancement of Science; and
* Association of Oregon Counties and Oregon State University Extension Service;

Oregonians who support efforts to give the state a voice in the primary process are urged to sign the petition a www.debateoregon.com..

Hillary Clinton Honors Workers’ Memorial Day

Charleston, WV - Hillary Clinton honored Workers’ Memorial Day today by pledging to continue fighting to improve workplace safety and protect all working Americans.

"Today, as we remember those who have lost their lives in the line of work, we must honor our responsibility to all working Americans by improving safety in the workplace. As president, I will continue fighting to protect our working men and women," said Senator Clinton.

Steven Perdue, a business representative with the Sheet Metal Workers also advocated improving workplace safety and praised Hillary Clinton’s commitment to working families.

"We have come a long way in improving workplace safety and workers’ rights, but we still have a long way to go. Hillary Clinton has a strong record of fighting for working families and the right of every American to a safe work environment. I am confident that as president, Hillary will continue fighting for the working men and women in West Virginia and across the country who are looking for a President who will make working Americans and their families a top priority once again," said Perdue.

After the tragedies at the Sago and Alma mines in 2006, Sen. Clinton co-sponsored the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act to strengthen protections for our nation's miners.

Sen. Clinton is an original co-sponsor of the Protecting America's Workers Act, which would expand OSHA protection, clarify the safety protections that employers must provide, expand civil and criminal penalties for OSHA violators, increase transparency in the OSHA citation process, and strengthen protections for OSHA whistleblowers……..

Clinton Campaign Announces West Virginia Veterans for Hillary Steering Committee

(Charleston, WV) - The Clinton campaign today announced the formation of the West Virginia Veterans for Hillary Steering Committee. The committee includes retired military personnel and veterans who served during peacetime and in war, including World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf, and Iraqi Freedom. Brigadier General Jack Yeager, Ret. will serve as the Steering Committee Chair.

"Hillary Clinton is a champion for veterans, soldiers, and military families. She is ready to be Commander-in-Chief on day one," said Brigadier General Jack Yeager, Ret. "The West Virginia Veterans for Hillary Steering Committee will be working in every corner of the state to mobilize support for Clinton. She has a strong record of achievement on issues affecting the military community and will be a staunch advocate for veterans in the White House."

Hillary has fought hard to improve the lives of veterans and military families. In the Senate, Clinton worked to gain access to TRICARE for National Guard and Reserve members. Hillary also fought to improve treatment for post traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury. The nearly 1,000 West Virginia citizens that join the armed forces each year, along with members of the Army and Air National Guard from the state, now receive regular health screenings to detect Traumatic Brain Injury, thanks to legislation Hillary introduced.

Clinton was instrumental in passing legislation that increased the military survivor benefit from $12,000 to $100,000. She also sponsored legislation to immediately end the prohibition on concurrent receipt that prevents many disabled veterans from receiving both military retirement pay and VA disability pay at the same time.

As President, Hillary will enact a GI Bill of Rights for the Twenty-First Century and will continue fighting to ensure that America keeps its promises to our men and women in uniform. Clinton will work to ensure that all of the 1.8 million uninsured veterans in this country have access to quality, affordable health care. As President, she will commit to getting a fair, accurate, and timely decision for every veteran filing a disability claim.

Veterans interested in becoming involved with the West Virginia Veterans for Hillary Steering Committee should e-mail WVeterans@hillaryclinton.com or contact the Clinton campaign state headquarters at 304-346-1913.

The West Virginia Veterans for Hillary Steering Committee includes;

In campaign stop, Clinton calls for end to Iraq war

By John Ramsey

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton speaks Thursday at Methodist University. ‘There are no quick solutions to the dilemmas we face,’ Clinton said.

Backed by former military leaders, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton outlined plans Thursday in Fayetteville to strengthen the armed forces and take better care of veterans.

During a 30-minute speech at Methodist University, her loudest applause came when she promised to reduce the strain that long deployments are having on soldiers and their families by giving troops one month at home for every month they spend overseas. She called for ending the war in Iraq as quickly as possible but said it would not be easy.

“There are no quick solutions to the dilemmas we face and the consequences that are likely to flow from whatever actions are taken,” Clinton said. “We have to end the war in Iraq and win the war in Afghanistan.”
..........

In her second trip to the backyard of Fort Bragg in a month, Clinton focused mostly on issues important to a military community.

Clinton’s speech was preceded by praise from military veterans, including North Carolina native Hugh Shelton, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.

“Unlike any other candidate, she understands that maintaining a well-prepared armed forces goes beyond providing dollars,” Shelton said. “She is the only candidate who has offered a responsible plan for bringing our troops home with honor.”

When troops come home, Clinton said, they deserve better medical services.

“There’s been a shameful neglect of the needs of many of our veterans,” she said.

Clinton: Easley's endorsement 'politically very meaningful'
Gov. Mike Easley and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton

Updated: Today at 10:39 a.m.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton called Gov. Mike Easley's endorsement Tuesday 'politically very meaningful.'

Easley decided to endorse Clinton, lending his support to her underdog effort to beat Sen. Barack Obama in the state's May 6 primary.

"Hillary Clinton gets it. She gets it. It’s time for somebody to be in the White House who knows what challenges we face in this country," Easley said.

Before the announcement, Easley and Clinton walked around North Carolina State University.

"I think it's a tremendous boost to the campaign and its a reaffirmation of the momentum that we have in the state and a reaffirmation of Sen. Clinton's message and its importance ... to the people of North Carolina," Tom Hendrickson, an adviser to Clinton in North Carolina, told The Associated Press.

4. boys" in both parties have been telling Clinton to "sit down, shut up and be quiet."

But not our gal:-)

……… said she plans to vote for Clinton because she thinks the New York senator is best-prepared to fix problems in the economy and foreign policy. She said she appreciated comments by Mike Trujillo, Clinton's state field director, that "boys" in both parties have been telling Clinton to "sit down, shut up and be quiet."

Jackson said, "I think that people are intimidated by her because she's a woman."

"I can't stand Obama," Jackson added. "I think it's worse to be political and pretend like you're not political. You have to be political to get the things done that you need to get done."

Multinational Monitor -- 2000

The Political Economy of Worker Safety
http://www.multinationalmonitor.org/mm2000/00november/editorial.html

Excerpt:

...New technologies have introduced new perils on job sites, such as the toxic hazards of electronics production. The imposition of new production arrangements, such as just-in-time, has sped up assembly lines (indeed many of the new production fads are really codes for old-fashioned speed up), making the risk of injury far higher. So have longer shifts and mandatory overtime increased worker vulnerability to workplace hazards. And the globalization of production has enabled multinational corporations to cut occupational safety and health investments, as they shift production either directly or through contractors to Third World countries with weaker workplace regulations and enforcement.

Meanwhile, increasing business power (not unrelated to industrial restructuring) has undermined effective enforcement of occupational safety and health laws.

In the United States, a hostile Republican Congress and an administration that has made workplace safety a low priority have colluded to produce a horrible record. The Clinton administration has failed to propose and promulgate a single new hazardous chemical standard. The Clinton OSHA has conducted fewer inspections per year than any previous administration, including Reagan's, according to a Public Citizen analysis. OSHA's budget should be 20 times higher, in the eyes of its current administrator. And in the workplace, lower unionization rates and diminished union power have undermined workers' ability to stand up on the shop floor to protect their interests.....

37. I went out of my way not to be spam-like
But when you post crap about her grand and glorious solidarity with workers and concern for worker safety, at least a contrasting view is called for.

If you want spam, how about this? She's a goddamn hypocrite because she and her husband have been balls out supporters of the very policies and Markets Uber Alles philosophy she now claims she is going to "fight for us" over.

can talk about Bill clintons policies elsewhere.

See for yourself! She is becoming as ugly on the outside as she is on the inside, and it shows.

5751907, BREAKING: Chelsea Picks Up A Puerto Rico Superdelegate For Her Mother
Posted by my2cent on Wed Apr-30-08 11:48 AM

Chelsea Clinton just bagged a superdelegate for her mother. The youngest Clinton is campaigning today in San Juan, Puerto Rico. A few moments ago, at the Universidad del Sagrado Corazon, Luisette Cabanas, an unpledged superdelegate, announced her support for Clinton, giving the campaign the majority of automatic** delegates on the island.

Chelsea and her entourage are being hosted by superdelegates Fransisco Domenech and Senate President Kenneth Mclintock.)

** Obama supporters don't use the word "automatic" anymore, not even, I'd suspect, in normal conversation. So here's what I'll do: when Clinton picks up a superdelegate, I'll use the A-word. When Obama picks up a superdelegate, I'll use the S word. The semiotic complexities of the Democratic primary race are confusing.

5753788, Hillary Clinton takes lead against John Mccain and Barack Obama in new Fox News Poll
Posted by Tropics_Dude83 on Wed Apr-30-08 01:58 PM

Great news. This should help her sway the superdelegates that she needs to win the nomination. Her favorability rating is at 47%, which matches Obama's. She bests Obama 44-41% in national democratic preference. She leads Mcain by 1 point in their general election poll and Obama trails by 3. I'm done with Hillary's competitor for the nomination and I have nothing further to say regarding him. Time to be positive about Senator Clinton.

61. President of the PA AFL-CIO, not the PA AFL-CIO
The president of the PA AFL-CIO is endorsing her in his capacity as a superdelegate. That does not constitute an endorsement from the PA AFL-CIO. In order to endorse the AFL-CIO needs 2/3 of member unions in proportion to membership to endorse. Just wanted to clear that up.

Congrats, though...good endorsements for her.
