Many Economist Agree that McCain-Clinton Gas Tax Holiday Is A Bad Idea
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080430/pl_nm/usa_politics_gastax_economists_dc

Again, Obama proves to be the candidate who's willing to try something new instead of pushing old, lip service ideas that don't really fix anything. A short-term stoppage on the federal gas tax wont do anything other than give big oil the margin to move prices even higher and reap even bigger profits. Again, Hillary is singing the same tune as her GOP "opponent" (and I use that term loosely), showing us where her politics really lie.

1. I don't think
that one was rocket science....bad idea no real savings and like you said a good chance the oil companies will just move prices that much higher.....although they may donate more to the campaigns for the chance...ya have to wonder who they are trying to impress with this one.

2. Of course it is, but it sounds good- So one needs to have the political courage
not to cave in to the desire to pander for votes.

4. Yeah, this was my worry
That the GOP (Hillary and McCain) would point to it and say "look, Obama doesn't want to give working class peopel a break!"

6. They already have- It's up to Obama to educate the voters
and get them to understand why it's a bad idea. That is true leadership, something neither McCain or Hillary possess.

3. I think this is pretty apparent to most but what will hurt Obama is having no clear plan, at least
with blue collar voters.

5. The gas tax holiday is a bad idea, the wind-fall profits tax is a good idea.
