Poll question: After Your Candidate of Choice Dropped Out...
Who did you decide to back? Hillary or Obama?

Excuse me if this has been asked but I missed it. Also - I am serious about wanting to know what the more popular answer will be.

Of course this does not apply to those who have always backed Obama or Clinton... But if the question does apply...
Please elaborate about your choice and make positive statements about the person whom you decided to vote for.

I originally backed Edwards and was pretty upset when he left right before Super Tuesday. I voted for Obama because I believe he offers more of what I am looking for in a leader.

When it comes down to the day I cast my vote, I will vote for the Democrat who is on the ballot. Your turn.

28. He's
been my one and only candidate since 2004. And if Obama and Clinton keep dicking around we might just have to go to the bullpen to find us a winning pitcher. The General isn't on the ballot yet.

3. none of the above:
I voted for my preferred candidate anyway because he was still on the ballot.

I do not support Obama nor do I support Hillary...

I will begrudgingly vote for the nominee...

Because we don't much care for either candidate.

13. Edwards isn't in the race anymore
I voted for him before he threw in the towel... I'm not wasting my vote by writing his name in. I'll vote for whomever is nominated, but I'm not backing either of the current Dem candidates... I think they both suck:) But a sucky Democrat is better than the most glowing Republican.

30. He dropped out before I could vote. Kucinich dropped out before I could vote as well.
I had no one to vote for when my state went next. I'm not really too enamored with either Obama or Hillary, and I think Hillary is more likely to invigorate the Republican base to come out and vote.

of people who did the same thing.

I totally understood.

I can't blame him for not wanting to be in politics any longer... it pretty much sucks.

11. I looked at Dodd, then Richardson, and would have voted Richardson (probably) if he had not dropped
By then it was Clinton and Obama, and since Obama was just barely above Edwards on my list of people to not support, I went with Clinton. I've never disliked Clinton, but she's got a few flaws (not the ones people around here slander her with, but others).

Obama is exactly the type of candidate I've always hated the Republicans for running--inexperienced, running on personality alone, dirty to the core, and pretending integrity while slandering and race-baiting through the underground channels (anonymous fliers, blogs, emails, planted operatives on boards like this). People can see that Bush did it, but the same ones are blind to Obama. I will have more trouble voting for him than I've ever had voting for anyone at any level, including Tony Sanchez for governor of Texas. I imagine I'll vote straight ticket, take a shower, and be moody for a few months. I feel for the Obama supporters, though. They are in love, and when he does to them what he did to Wright, they are going to be shattered.

12. After Kucinich, Richardson, Dodd, Biden, Edwards dropped out
I went for Obama. I have been a strong Anybody But Clinton, particularly after Hillary's vote on Kyl-Lieberman.

14. There really needs to be an "Other" option.
Some of us still do not back Hillary or Barack.

And I suspect that group is much larger than most know, from what I've seen.

15. I voted for Kucinich in my primary.
I will vote for the DEM nominee in Nov. I like Obama and Clinton about equally...I feel there are far better candidates but the people have spoken. I will fully support the DEM nominee.

tedious project. I don't seem to be making a lot of progress on it. Hopefully, in November I can donate all the yarn to charity.

19. I originally leaned Clinton for a couple weeks...
Edited on Wed Apr-30-08 05:14 PM by redqueen
then decided to back Obama... the main issue that swayed me was not healthcare (my original priority) but open government.

My reason for changing - healthcare proposals have to get through congress... neither of their plans will look that similar after congress gets done with them.

Open government though... that is key. If the leader doesn't have the right attitude about it, you can forget the rest!

Sorry... I was originally for Kucinich... then switched to Edwards. It was after Edwards dropped out that I spent a week or three on the fence... full disclosure. :)

22. Kucinich/Dodd
They were my top two. I planned to vote for DK, but if Dodd pulled it out in Iowa and made it to Super Duper Tuesday, I was going to vote for him. They were both gone long enough before Feb. 5, that I had time to look at the remaining candidates. I was leaning to Edwards (not completely sold at the time) when he pulled out. I finally decided on Obama 3 days before my vote.

Bi-Baby and myself went to his Boston rally Feb. 4 (she was still planning on voting for Kucinich at that time) and both of us were turned (I won't speak for her though). Me, I was amazed by all of the people I met waiting in line, and inside the rally - people from all walks of life, ages, and parties. They were fired up and ready to go, and they were organized. This was my first, up-close view of the excitement of grass-roots, and it made feel good. The rally itself was great (I have a thread in my Journal for anyone who hasn't seen it, or if you just want to look at it again for the awesome pics and my potty-mouthed review) but the people I met that night are what really sold me.

26. My story
too except without the rally.

I went from Kucinich to Edwards and landed on Obama.

I really believe he offers something in the way of hope and change.

Nice chatting sniffa :hi:
