Huckabee says Obama's former pastor needs him to lose
BILLINGS, Montana: Former Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee said Wednesday Barack Obama's bid for the White House is not being derailed because he is black, but because his former pastor does not want him to show the country's race relations have progressed.

(snip)

"His (Obama's) campaign is not being derailed by his race, it's being derailed by a person who doesn't want him to prove that we have made great advances in this country," Huckabee told reporters.

(snip)

"Jeremiah Wright needs for Obama to lose so he can justify his anger, his hostile bitterness against the United States of America," Huckabee said.

25. I support Obama and I think there
might be some truth in this. Rev. Wright is older and has spent his whole life devoted to a particular message (at least as far as I have been able to gather since I haven't watched any of the MSM hype) and now things are not completely the same, even though I think racism very much alive in the US. Obama is a younger man with a new approach to the topic of racism, one that seeks common ground among people of different races. It might feel threatening to someone.

7. The fact that Huckabee made an active attempt to integrate his own church gives him
a little more cred on this issue. But I still think it's a stretch.

11. He's a nice guy but there's a reason religion & politics are separate: religion has a lot bad to say
About US political leaders whether Huckabee wants to hear it or not.

14. No.
Huckabee endorsed Pastorbating as a deturance for those too young or immature to discuss the issues.

Paging Dr. Elders...

9. ...Because Jesus loves the United States of America and we are Blessed by God
Which is why US Policy is in keeping with God's will,
according to Mike Huckabee.

Anyone who says otherwise from the pulpit must be silenced. As MSNBC
commentators said, pastors must not be allowed to issue anti-American
statements from the pulpit.

Although some of his positions are wrong and crazy--he has shown decency toward other candidates including Barack Obama. And sometimes he makes very insightful correct comments too.

16. One of Wright's "10 truths about america"
Is that a black man will never be president.

There could be a grain of truth to what the Huckster is saying...

17. I don't
think Wright is doing it on purpose. Wright is cynical and has every right to be. I'm sure he would be delighted if Obama managed to win the presidency. He just doesn't want to get his hopes up.

19. after 8 years of bush, the USA is quite different
Rev Wright was referring to bushamerka, and he was right. The game isn't over yet, but it's clear that even rightwingers today reject the nonsense espoused by the rw crazees. A single payer health care system, for example, is the most bang-for-a-buck way to provide health care, but try tell that to the freepers (who are just loud mouth reactionaries giving vent to what the rest of them are thinking)

21. Huckabee is a stone cold crazy guy who accidentally makes sense sometimes
Edited on Wed Apr-30-08 07:59 PM by Kber
When the repubs were debating the tax rebates, Huckabee opposed them, saying, in effect, it's a bad idea to borrow money from China to give to people to buy more things made in China. Exactly whose economy are we stimulating? We ought to be spending that money on infrastructure at home and on things like expanding unemployment insurance.

I was kinda conflicted, 'cause he was actually making good sense for a minute.

on edit - can't type for shit tonight

Best grand unified theory of why Wrightgate went supernova. And yet so simple, so elegant.
