The superdelegates now have no choice but to pick Obama
<snip>

The superdelegates, who can vote for the candidate of their choice without taking voter preferences into account, in fact have no other choice but to nominate Obama. They will have to suppress the growing fear that the Democrats cannot win the election against Republican candidate John McCain in November if Obama is their candidate. Still, as long as Obama can hold onto his slight lead in the number of pledged delegates, he will be the inevitable candidate. In fact, there is now almost a national political obligation to nominate Obama. A vote by superdelegates against Obama would set off shock waves within American society, with incalculable consequences. Young people would be outraged, intellectuals would be bitter and violence could erupt in predominantly black urban neighborhoods around the country.

<snip>

An apparent rejection of her black rival would also do more to harm Hillary Clinton than help her campaign. A candidacy against the background of angry youth or even burning barricades would be of little value. Thus, it is not Obama himself who now offers the strongest argument for his nomination, but the history of his ancestors. In fact, with his history standing at his side, Obama hardly needs to try any longer. This history peers into the present, sadly and silently, from a time we commonly call the past. And yet this is a past that America cannot seem to shake.

1. This is why I don't get why people keep donating to her
If they're going to waste their money, why not just give it to me? Or better yet, instead of wasting it, why not donate to a legitimate charity?

21. Not me. Can't speak for others, though....
...She may not need it, however, because if she makes it to the GE India may just write her a blank check from their national bank account. They have much to gain with Hillary in the WH. Of course, as much as India will gain, American workers will lose.

herself in a deeper hole? Only her supporters who donate for the shovels know for sure.

2. There would be one hell of an uprising in my nice, neat, civilized white
community also. Older white women outnumber the men, and they LOVE Obama, he's a "breath of fresh air", "Hillary is calculated and manipulative," "Sick and tired of the Clintons, they need to move on," are just a few of the views from my area in West Palm. Cannot wait until this is done and over with. If Obama is cheated of this nomination, Americans, not just the voting aged kids or blacks, will be in an uproar and I'll lead the march...

3. That's why I said that the Democratic Party is not stupid enough
to nominate Hillary in spite of Obama's lead in pledged delegates and the popular vote. It will tick off, and rightly so, newer voters, and African-Americans and will keep them home come November. That's one reason, I believe, the RNC is running ads against Obama now. They know if Hillary gets the nomination because of non-issues like Rev. Wright, they will cruise to victory in November.

20. Are we talking about the same Democratic Party?
Yeah. It is plenty stupid enough to do that.

Let's just hope there are a few functioning brain cells in the right places.

6. She is just doing whatever she can do to help McBush win.
No other explanation possible. Those prayer meetings with the reigh wingnuts have paid off for them. Her Rovian tactics prove it.

11. Sigh... the SD's will each vote as they see fit... some for Obama, some for
Clinton. Enough will endorse Obama by mid June to lock up the nomination when added to his pledged D's. Simple math.

25. That should tell them what they need to know
about their different personalities. The Clintons seem vindictive, Obama does not. They see it as betrayal (Bill R.), and he understands it's for political reasons. I don't think he'd hold a grudge against any of the SD's who picked Clinton, she on the other hand...

16. I read this earlier, and it's 100% correct.
All other calculations pale in comparison with this. Even if we were to grant Clinton's arguments about "electability," it scarcely matters at this point with the countervailing consequences. While I do not think there would be much violence if Obama were denied the nomination, excepting a handful of radicals, I do think it would terribly fracture a delicate coalition.

27. oh, acording to you obama folks the sd's have no choice but
to support obama and if he gets the sd's he is not stealing anything but according to your statement hrc would be stealing the nominee if those same sd's which have a "choice" decide to vote for her.
