Dean Leads: Kerry 2nd in CNN/Time Poll
I posted this earlier, but asked it to be taken off because it was a dupe. Since the other one was locked, I am reposting it, since it will be the only one.

"Thinking ahead to the 2004 presidential election, if you were asked to vote for a Democratic presidential nominee for president today, which of the following Democrats would you vote for? . . ."

12/03 - 1/04 11/03

Howard Dean 22% 14
John Kerry 10% 9
Joseph Lieberman 9% 11
Wesley Clark 8% 12
Dick Gephardt 7% 6
Al Sharpton 6% 5
John Edwards 5% 5
Dennis Kucinich 5 % 2
Carol Moseley Braun 2% 4
Other 3% 9
Not sure 23%

CNN/Time Poll conducted by Harris Interactive. Dec. 30, 2003-Jan. 1, 2004. N=399 registered Democrats and independents who lean Democratic nationwide. MoE ± 4.9.

*I will be the first to admit that national polls are unimportant, but it certainly is nice to see Kerry polling higher than Sharpton. It seems only Dean is unaffected by the MOE. Definite Lead.

**Should also be noted that Kucinich seems to have picked up some support from 2 to 5%. I hope his progressive message is getting heard. I think more of his supporters are also starting to see Kerry as the only other viable progressive candidate. I think they could be pivotal in caucus states.

***I'd like to see Clark start doing better than Lieberman. I think this will happen as the primaries heat up.

1. Yea, good news, I saw this on Inside Politics the other day
I was surprised to see Kerry at second, the campaign does seem to be picking up steam, at just the right time.

2. this thing is still up for grabs
I would say that undecided is in first place, Dean in second, and Kerry in third.

This primary is far from over.

4. Kucinich is doing as well as Edwards and almost as well
as Sharpton, Gep, and Clark (taking into account +/- 3% moe)--not bad.

16. Margin of Error is 4.9%, which means DK is even with all but Dean...
...now what justification does the media have for calling kucinich a marginal or longshot or fringe candidate???

17. Pretty respectable showing
and I bet his numbers are under reported, since a lot of his supporters might not be on poll lists.

5. It might be good if he didn't have to face the primaries 1st.
Among registered Democrats and Independents, his numbers aren't too rosy, I'm afraid.

6. Clark is still losing support?
I wonder why that is? When he first joinrd the race there was a huge media push to annoint him as the frontrunner and plenty of articles about how he appealed to the beltway crowd...maybe that's the problem?

11. Not sure wins Democratic Nomination with 23%
Maybe its not over, as the media would have us believe :-)

Maybe the people can decide instead of the pollsters.

15. Kucinich is within MOE of everyone but dean, and still they marginalize
What justification do the elite media outlets have for marginalizing Kucinich in this race!? At 5% with an MOE of 4.9%, he only behind Dean. This is outrageous!

21. Now we all believe this poll right? I mean, it's not like polls have
EVER been wrong or WIDELY exaggerated have they?....like the poll showing Dean (and everybody else) getting trounced by Bush by 20 plus points....or the CNN poll that shows Dean 5pts behind and most of the rest of the candidates 10pts behind.....

We only chose polls that fit our view.
