Poll question: Senator Clinton --
(a) believes in her true heart that she will be the nominee, that her chances remain excellent.

(b) believes she has pulled even with Obama but that significant uncertainty clouds the way forward.

(c) believes Obama has only a minimal advantage, owing to the slow bleed of super delegates his direction.

(d) knows she has lost but remains in the race as a point of pride and to bolster her national profile.

(e) knows she has lost but wishes to finish strong to exert influence in the party's collective future.

(f) knows she has lost but remains in the race to meet campaign debts.

(g) knows she has lost but wants to trade influence for a Senate Majority Leader role, or to name the party's next Chair.

(h) knows she has lost but wishes to weaken Obama vs. McCain, leaving 2012 more open for her.

(i) OTHER

12. You're not alone. I bet you and Howard Dean could find a thing or
two to talk about over a pitcher of cold beer.

9. She would not enter a nomination race with odds as strongly against her
as they are now.

She entered the race ("I'm in it to win it") when she was the most recognized woman on earth, and one of the most recognizable humans on earth, for that matter, with a massive stash of funds, significant connections, plus her husband's political celebrity.

Barack Obama and John Edwards beat her in Iowa. She narrowly won New Hampshire. Her husband stunk up the place in South Carolina in advance of a landslide for Obama there. And most damning of all, she didn't have one syllable of a plan for the contests post-February 5th because she thought it would all be over by then with the nation fawning over her every step and utterance.

She has very little support among independents and grassroots progressives, and properly so.

I included in the poll an 'OTHER' choice if someone wants to add to the considerations of interpretations for Hillary Clinton's bid for the White House.

19. Other. Knows she hasn't officially lost yet...
...and sees at least one way to win. Wants to be positioned as strongly as possible going into the convention. Hoping for an upset, but perhaps willing to take the VP slot if she can get it.

strategy meetings with her advisors.

21. Heh. We couldn't afford to sit in on those private meetings.
They're about the kind of money DUers don't have. I'm sure they'd be interesting in a sickening sort of way, and I have a morbid curiosity about such things--but maybe I don't wanna know how the sausage is made.

I'm sure those meetings would provide an endless supply of gotcha sound bites.
