What if I said...I will vote for Kerry/Edwards and have donated to both, |
|
but I don't like either one of them? And, what if what I said was REAL!

2. I would say GOOD FOR YOU. |
|
We knew going in to this that not everyone was going to get their hearts desire when it came to our candidates. The most important thing now is to get rid of Smirk and co.
Kerry was not my first choice, but I am proud to support him, campaign for him, and contribute money to his candidacy.
I am still ABB.

3. Then I would ask you to donate to the DNC "Grassroots" campaign... |
|
...which funnels resources into swing states.

4. No...I won't give to DNC and have told them so through phone banks and |
|
mailings...I don't give to DLC, either. But have given to Kerry, Edwards and my local congresspersons: David Price and Brad Miller.
Have given to Dean/Kucinich/MoveOn.Org/Earth Justice/Sierra Club Legal Fund and other local candidates who didn't make it against the RW Machine.
I don't like Kerry/Edwards as a ticket...I've donated, but don't like them...

5. Except that wont help the swing states. |
|
Most of Kerry's $$$ will go to combat GWB's 1/4 BILLION Dollars worth of negaitive Ads. If he did not do this, DUers would bitch about him "not fighting back"...
Getting out the vote in swing states is more important than a grudge- but do what thou wilt - I'm sure you are as pressed for cash as I am. But consider it.

15. Do what I'm doing: give to PROGRESSIVE candidates |
|
I can guarantee you there's at least one progressive, anti-war, pro-peace Democrat running in a race in your state.
Like it or not, local government (especially state gov't) has more of a direct impact on our day-to-day lives than the federal government. Go support a progressive state legislature candidate, or a House candidate.
I'm unemployed, and can't afford to give much, if anything. I will vote for Kerry. That's all he can expect from me right now. He's got more money than Allah anyway, that's the least of his worries. Despite the fact that I still don't agree with him on several very important issues, I'll still vote for him, because the alternative is that much worse.

|
Or even KOS. All of these are supporting progressive populist candidates.

6. Dean was my first choice |
|
And I sent in four separate contributions.
I have since donated to Kerry three times, to Daschle and Leahy once.

I personally love John Edwards and think he and Kerry will be a great team in office. However, I don't agree with either of them on everything.
It's a mature decision on your part to participate in the democracy even though you aren't getting exactly what you want. (None of us do.) Even though you don't like them, you know they are better than Bush and instead of just whining you are working to make things better than they are right now.

Congrats on the donations, and congrats on that vote.
I know you are resistant. . .try letting your guard down and listen to what they have to say about what they want to do, and listen to how hard they are hitting Bush and Cheney.

21. I wish so much for a "clean sweep" of "inner Beltway Shenanigans." |
|
Edited on Thu Jul-15-04 07:26 PM by KoKo01
But I keep getting asked to vote for folks that I don't think will clean it up, while the folks who might have done it are "sidelined by their Party."
It gets old and stale after many elections. And, I'm one who thought Carter would do it...little did I know at that time that the "party machinery" would gun for him...and then would "lie down" when Clinton was President and would allow the RW to trash them over Vince Foster/Gennifer Flowers...yadda...yadda...yadda.
But, then I didn't expect that Clinton's first piece of legislation would be NAFTA...which I violently opposed, either.
He was a "Globalist." But did he really believe in that at the time, or was he "run" by the DLC who DID believe in WTO/NAFTA as the answer to why our country was losing Manufacturing jobs after Eight years of Reagon and FOUR of BUSH I?
By the time Clinton came in was he truly a "Globalist?" Or, was he having to run on a "legacy" of TWELVE YEARS of REPUG DOCTRINE?
I don't know. But if Clinton had come in like Bush did and rammed Hillary's Health Care package down our throats like the Chimp did with Cheney's Fraudulent "Energy Policy" and then denied access to all his meetings and documents and anything to do with his "LOSS OF FUNDS" in Whitewater Land Deal" like the Chimp & Co. have...then we would have had a very different scenario and Gore would be our President today.
Instead, we are fighting off "Chimp and the Legacy back to Nixon, once again..hoping for a Woodward/Bernstein to save us from our folly... UGH! How many more times around this bend are many Americans being forced to suffer? If we had cleaned this vermin out back in Nixon's time would we be suffering like this today? Ford's Pardon of Nixon just delayed things so that the "spinmeisters" could rehab Nixon and repackage folks from his Administration annd Reagan's into the witch's brew we have today with Rummy, Armatage, Kissinger, Baker, Wolfowitz, Perle and all the "underlings" who were in their early 20's who survive now as the "stuffed suit fat cats." AND...the MEDIA LEGACY is Pat Buchanan, William Safire and his ilk and the rest of them like the "newcomers" Hitchens and the crew at Faux News who never get sick or die like the rest of us do..because the "Mayo and Cleveland Clinics" scan them yearly for "stuff" which is "life threatening" and THIER HEALTH INSURANCE COVERS IT...but our's doesn't. How else could Cheney survive the incredible odds against him having his first heart attack at such a young age? I have been to funerals of folks like Dick who didn't survive having an attack in their 30's like he did. Tell me the difference isn't in health care monitoring? It makes me really angry!
And we are supposed to HOP on to another bandwagon...whose so much the "Status Quo?" :nuke:
