Howard Dean keeps it real: Says Bush most dangerous president
Howard Dean: Bush's reckless ideology makes his the most dangerous administration in my lifetime

Dean Labels Bush 'Reckless' Candidate Launches Broad Criticisms Tied to U.S. Security

By Ceci Connolly Washington Post Staff Writer Tuesday, December 30, 2003; Page A04

DETROIT, Dec. 29 -- From Iraq to homeland security to public health, President Bush's "reckless" habit of placing "ideology over facts" has resulted in "the most dangerous administration in my lifetime," Democrat Howard Dean charged over the past two days.

In Midwest campaign stops and an interview, the former Vermont governor said developments both abroad and at home give credence to his assertion two weeks ago that the United States is "no safer" with the capture of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.

"If we are safer, how come we lost 10 more troops and raised the safety alert" to the orange level, Dean said Sunday night in Ankeny, Iowa.

"All the other Democrats pounced on me and beat me up and said how ignorant I was about foreign affairs," he said. "I think most people in America agree with me today and it's only two weeks later."

Thank you, Howard Dean, for reminding the self imolating Democrats who the real enemy is. I truly doubt that you'll ever be posing in the Rose Garden with war appeasers and the jackals who feast on ever larger chunks of our rights and freedoms.

5. Yes, Bush is a reckless idiot who has put our country in jeopardy.
I don't need Howard Dean to tell me that. I need someone to fix the problems with our country... preferably someone who doesn't have advertised "gaps" to plug http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?pagename=article&node=&contentId=A26720-2003Dec1¬Found=true

If there were a cabinet position for "Critic of Administrations Past," Dean would be my first choice for 2004, I guess.

"the most dangerous administration in my lifetime," resonates with me and I think most folks.

call what the little man really is; a lier. Miserable Failure (per Gephard), Fooked Up (per Kerry), Lier and Reckless Cowboy.

I watched the HardBall interview again last night, I am continually impressed with his ideals and the ability to get things done. Not to mention the fact that he's not a *Rose Garden Democrat* ;)

QUOTE

“I’ve been clear that I will not stop criticizing the war,” Dean said. “But I will not personally criticize the President or partisanly attack him while our troops are there and I will support our troops.

“But I don’t think the war is the right thing to do,” Dean said. “It will turn out to be a problem for the United States. I have no doubt we’re going to win, but down the line when you pre-emptively attack another country, that leads you into trouble because other countries will follow our example.

Dean said that although his rhetoric may be popular with partisan Democrats, “When you run for President, you really run for all the people of the country. I do think the national interest comes before partisan politics.

“I’m not going to engage in the Democratic ‘red meat’ stuff that partisan audiences love to hear,” he said. “I won’t do that while our troops are on the ground.”

/QUOTE

If I could find this, I'm sure the GOP will.... Consistency is going to be a problem...

15. Oh, the Union Leader says
now I believe:puke: I'm not going to register on that right-wing rag to read their entire screed. Let me just say that the UL loves to hate the Dems in NH and their flaming is a badge of honor.

I also suspect the Repugs will want to say as little as they can about Iraqnam in the 2004 election.

Another woman asked Dean to clarify his support for the Biden-Lugar resolution, which in October 2002 authorized the president in to use force in Iraq if the United Nations passed a resolution requiring Iraq to disarm.

“I’ve never supported the president’s intervention in Iraq,” Dean said. “The reason for my support of the Biden-Lugar resolution was because I think the president deserves the presumption of right on his side in foreign policy.”

17. Consistency and Howard Dean are mutually exclusive
I have often wondered how many notebooks he and/or Trippi carry around to review their latest stance on issues?

Regardless of how many times you dredge up arguments against him - that fall flat as two day old cocacola.

23. copy and paste responses won't make them true, molly
Just as history has not changed for Kerry since you copy and paste such responses throughout DU....the history I'm speaking of is the TRUTH that Kerry voted for war (with the IWR, which was a blank check for war with anyone who was paying attention) in order to save his behind in Congress.

Kerry is living in times when safe votes won't save Democrats anymore. The people want something more. They want a brave soul. They want Howard Dean.

24. Molly, can you tell me why John Kerry accused Dean of
"Simon says foreign policy" regarding his position on the Iraq War, if as you say, B/L was basically the same as the IWR that Kerry voted for?

I don't know that I'll have time to await your answer, but I'll check back tomorrow :hi:
