List of FL counties that will be using touchscreen machines in Nov!
Counties using DRE Precinct Voting Method according to Florida's Secretary of State:

Broward, Charlotte, Collier, Hillsborough, Indian River, Lake, Lee, Martin, Miami-Dade, Nassau, Palm Beach, Pasco, Pinellas, Sarasota, Sumter

http://election.dos.state.fl.us/votemeth/index.shtml

Click on Certified Voting Systems Lookup and then click on counties that use DRE (touchscreen)

There are some newspapers in Florida that are recommending that the above counties not use these unreliable touchscreen machines and instead lease optical scan machines. I would further recommend that voters in these counties call up their supervisors of elections NOW and request an absentee ballot. If they are inundated with the need to process absentee paper ballots, perhaps they will be forced to consider leasing the optical scan machines.

These opti-scan machines must also print out their results before the results are transmitted via modem to the election supervisor's main computer to help eliminate tampering with the results--so the two totals can then be compared.

1. Just mark off Florida as Bush, unless enough work is done to get these
counties using something secure.

2. Saw a debate on Tampa's Fox 13 the other day.
Two election officials and one ACLU rep. None of them were up on the topic enough to discuss it intelligently.

They did say that ONLY undervotes and overvotes would be recounted, and that no machine votes would be recounted.

Think about the implications of that for a minute.

3. The implications are enormous! This was ruling by the Sec. of State...

and I think the Florida legislature controlled by the Republicans went along with this absurdity and passed a law that these electronic voting machines would be exempt from this requirement!

We must fight back in whatever ways we can to make sure that our votes are counted properly. If we don't, we will be outmaneuvered, and we will surely lose out again.

4. Isn't it in violation of federal election law to deny a recount of votes
in contested elections? I can hardly believe this crap is happening.
