I don't want to offend anyone, but...
Edited on Mon Jul-19-04 10:37 PM by Catch22Dem
The stuff on http://www.kerrygear.com is a real let-down. I mean, there just isn't anything good on there. Ok, let me rephrase, there's nothing I like on there. Is there another website offering some good Kerry/Edwards stuff?

ON EDIT: Found this - http://www.cafeshops.com/2004primary/258506

1. I know what you mean. I wasn't totally excited either, but
I ordered two Tee Shirts and 10 bumper stickers anyway. I am waiting impatiently. I need my Tee Shirt for this weekend when my wrong thinking brother arrives.

2. can you give ideas of what you would like ?
there is also

kerrymart.com
kerryparty.com
kerrywholesale.com

those sites offer things similar to kerrygear but they have some additional products geared at more specific groups. and they are also places for bulk orders.

i like this shirt and would like more in a similar style

Why not something about Kerry's bravery. Something along the lines of

Kerry chose to step up to the plate and fight while Bush chose to party. Kerry ready to lead then, and ready NOW!

or, something with Kerry and his band of brothers.

or, You don't get medals without mettle. Bravery counts. Vote Kerry.

4. you mean the message or items ?
i assume you are referring to the message. i assume the original poster may have been referring to the specific items sold, but i can't be sure. i do think there can be some other things that would get people to buy things more than they already have. but they have been doing pretty well in selling their campaign items already.

i think sending suggestions to the campaign or those who make the products would be a good idea.

10. My wife likes that one too, but
She said she'd rather just have a small logo on the front and not the huge one on the back.

9. I am referring to the message and the designs which are either sports
inspired or too cute. No disrepect but the Real Deal slogan is lame. It sounds like an ad for a car dealership.

IMHO forget the real deal pap. There are real issues that Kerry is addressing and they should be should be out front on stickers, buttons and tees.

11. i think it's because
most of the items are made for campaign events and they want things that everyone can wear. if it's too specific then some people may not want to wear it. but demstore.com does allow people to create their own items with their own messages. the real deal may sound lame but it still sells which is why they continue using it.

15. The real deal may appeal to Kerry supporters but does it
carry a message to swing voters? I regard t-shirts as walking billboards not just an expression of one's political affiliation.

I think that something along the lines of Bravery counts. Vote Kerry.
says more to swing voters than the Real Deal.

16. agree, those are very good ideas
that can appeal to everyone without alienating anyone. there have been some who made shirts of their own with a similar message which shows kerry in his military uniform next to bush in some weird outfit and calls kerry a hero and bush a zero.

5. The official site
will not be "edgy," by definition. Not only that, but people who are genuinely edgy don't vote, so why bother?

13. So why do so many people tune into The Daily Show?
IMHO its because it sends up the predictable corporate pap that is handed to us and we are supposed to accept it as serious news because it looks so damn polished.

14. What are you expecting
Edited on Mon Jul-19-04 11:39 PM by Nicholas_J
The artwork off of a greatful dead album. Circa Aoxomoxoa, or maybe American Beauty.

Sort of John Kerry, the Acid President.

Or John Kerry Rolling Papers, with an endorsement from Bill CLinton:

"Great for not inhaling"

I know it might strike a chord in some circles, but it wouldnt gove over well in Ottumwa, Iowa.

I think Kerry's stuff has just the right touch without looking too, God, America, and Apple Pie. Understated, non-Norman Rockwell, and not offensively Rah Rah.

18. Something not so cheezy
For starters. I don't want to be a walking billboard, so GIANT LOGOS are out. I don't want to stop traffic, so BIG RED/WHITE/BLUE letters are out. Something subtle, trendy, tasteful, would be a good start.

Edited on Tue Jul-20-04 12:02 AM by sandnsea
They're a little different anyway. I don't know anything about the site, it was in an email list a while ago. Campaign stuff is through a private company, the campaign gets nothing, so buy whatever you want. I know a few people who have been complaining about the Kerry Gear for about a year now.

19. Yes, that's perfect!!!!
Thanks. The "John John" shirt is exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about. Trendy, simple, subtle, not cheezy, not gawdy, just right.

Thanks again!

Edited on Tue Jul-20-04 12:47 AM by marlakay
I got two shirts from www.clothingoftheamericanmind.com one that says vote on the front and for a new line up 2004 on the back. The other is about the environment.

Then I just got my fav from www.cafeshops.com/eb4kerry.com they have regular ones but also have a cute pink and white shirt that says
"GOT KERRY" on it.

Then I ordered shirt from www.runagainstbush.com they are mostly runners and I don't run but I wear shirt to the gym.
