Margaret Cho uninvited from Unity event.
I guess this is because of the Whoopi thing. It is a shame. I am not that familiar with her, but if they cared enough to invite her they should not tell her to stay away.
http://www.margaretcho.com/

"Gay groups, by request of the Kerry campaign and the DNC, cancel performance by Margaret durng the Democratic National Convention, citing "fear of a potential media firestorm" a la Whoopi Goldberg. Press Release"

There is other stuff there about turning off her mic at another event.

Dems want to be the inclusive party? This isn't being very inclusive is it?

9. When the party is controlled by the DLC, you can expect
DLC bullshit becoming the orthodoxy.

Outspoken gays and lesbians are an embarrassment to the DLC, together with antiwar and anti-globalization activists.

The morphing of the two parties will continue no matter who wins the election, although I suspect the ruling class is prepared to dump Bush now that they are assured that Kerry won't challenge them.

16. You Are Right
The Human Rights Campaign advances the interests of gays and lesbians...

The DLC is a centrist Democratic group...

3. She REALLY doesn't care for Bush...
...Ashcroft even more so. But she's also a "guaranteed" outrage, it's her speciality. I can understand "uninviting" her if they want to avoid all controversy and be spineless, which seems to be the game plan to date.

6. I agree.
This is ridiculous! Why do we always have to walk on eggshells while the right has a free pass to be as outrageous as they please? This madness has to end.

5. This is just proof of why I'm holding my nose to vote Kerry
As far as I'm concerned Kerry will need to be kept on a short leash when he wins. He will be as willing to sell out the progessives in a heartbeat to get cooperation from the Rethugs (which he will need if more Dems aren't in Congress).

I'm hoping he'll be too busy fixing the Bush damage to do too much damage of his own.

7. Take a look at the video of the Women's March.
Lots of pics of the rally and lots of celebs. Very good video of the march, and a great segment with the good doctor. Must have been when he had to leave without getting to speak. Great video.

8. That's a damn shame.
She's funny and interesting and she covers all the bases-Bi/ethnic/and liberal. What's not to hate?

Oh- wouldn't want anybody to hear something controversial. (I say that with the same over enunciation of disdain you hear the word liberal.)

A big eye roll.

Thank Satan for cable.

I'm amazed that you have to even ask. We are all Americans here and support out Constitution as defined by our Founding Fathers.

13. This pisses me off
I am sick and tired of our side acting ashamed every time one of us says what we ALL think about this administration. Silencing Cho because the GOP attack machine cried and moaned over what Goldberg said? Explain the open mindedness and unity of THAT logic. :grr:

25. I actualy agree on this one.
Except for some sincere and mild mannered people like Martin Sheen most of these actor/commedians are a bunch of loud mouthed clowns and all they talk about issue wise is abortion and guns (no scratch that , it isnt some fad anymore, Clinton warned about that)and they do it in the most divisive of language. These folks could actualy turn a few Kerry states in the North and Mid West over to Bush if we gave them a microphone endlessly.

The rest of what they do doesnt help us (unless it one of the ones who actualy cares about issues like Sheen) , and I dont care if some jokes are funny because if it isnt along side anything helpful then why bring them? Cho is rude when debating others, I actualy saw Ben Stein throw his wires off and leave in the middle fo a debate with her because she interrupted him like 100 times.

You know how much we hate it when Hannity , O Reilly , Cavuto , Gibson, Kondrake ,and others try to endlessly make those who dont bash the French and agree 100% with the Patriot Act into a bunch of foolish anti-American pinheads? I think that has hurt the GOP and the nation has gotten sick of it creating a backlash. Well these "cultral cool people" from entertainment are our Hannitys and will gradualy create a backlash for us.

Its time we start getting serious about issues and not act as if there is some violent cultral war going on 24/7. Step #1 is to reject letting people like Cho speak on behalf of us in important events.Bring in somebody like Sheen who will talk about worker rights and justice in foreign policy. He is somebody who actualy opposed the Iraq war for intelligent reasons.Heck even our politicians couldnt do that , they had to play it both ways .We have politicicans that simply tried to hedge their bets and activists that opposed the war on totally partisan reasons. We should be grateful Bush screwed up so badly dipomaticaly and post war planning, because his screw ups and the Hannitys smear tactics on the opposition is what has caused Bush's melt down. Im just hoping we can keep the dual meltdown scenario from happening 100% on our Kerry candlestick from our end.
