What's Kerry doing with all of his campaign money? |
|
I just saw a commercial from him on CNN, but it's the first I've seen in a long time. It surprises me because I've heard that he's been out-fundraising Bush for four months now.
I realize I don't live in a swing state, but I'd really like to see more Kerry exposure nationally. Is he just saving his money for the last couple of months?

1. He is hammering Oregon for one thing |
|
He is taking out front-page ads on NYT and WP web sites.
I believe he is hammering other swing states.
I think these folks are spending the money quite wisely.

2. Actually, I think he's been dumping tons into swing states |
|
It's been pretty non-stop (Kerry and * both) here in Wisconsin.
It wouldn't surprise me if he's making precious few national buys.

4. Yeah, I thought he looked pretty good, though. |
|
He has a very presidential look. He looks strong and trustworthy. I think it works for him.

That's an odd critique, but, ok, if you say so...

12. Definately way more Bush ads than Kerry ads on CNN, agreed. |
|
4-1, 3-1? I mute or ff through the Bush ads so quickly that they make a lot less of an impression so it's hard for me to judge. But I also get the feeling that the Kerry campaign is more disciplined about spending their money in a targeted fashion and they only put a few ads on national cable in order to 'show the flag' as it were.

9. You know, another thing to keep in mind is that big corporate media |
|
like CNN are going to be a lot nicer to a campaign that spends more money with them. My guess is that's the strategy that Bush is going with.

And campaign offices cost money too and he's opened them in many states earlier than any other candidate. As well as ad campaigns targeted to African-Americans and Latinos.

11. Love the new Kerry commercial. Just saw it. |
|
And Bush is running the same goofy one with the woman voice over about missed votes etc. Seems like I have been seeing that for a month. Central Wisconsin here.

13. Campaign Headquarters |
|
One thing he's been doing is setting up and organizing campaign headquarters in various states. Suggestions that he wasn't doing this was one of the more valid early criticisms against his campaign, but I gather now he was waiting until he had the cash to do it properly. A half-assed campaign structure is as bad an in some cases worse than none at all.
Anyway, doing this right isn't cheap.
He's also engaged in a lot of alternate forms of advertisement it appears. I see his mug all over the place while browsing various Internet sites, certain ads seeming to appear more frequently when certain key words, phrases, and stories are being searched or viewed. I saw one the other day attached to a puff piece about Bush. I read about the Shrub, and there's Kerry smiling at me. :-)
